Loon Mountain Ready For Seven Brothers Express Quad Installation
After the installation and launch of the spectacular Kancamagus 8. The Kancamagus Express Quad spent the winter getting a makeover in preparation for the short journey east to replace Loon’s only fixed-grip triple chairlift—becoming the Seven Brothers Express Quad.
In its new location, the Seven Brothers Express Quad will more than double the maximum rope speed of the current triple chairlift—going from 450 feet to 1,000 feet per minute. The overall uphill capacity will increase and that will be determined once the final engineering is completed. The quad will follow the same lift line profile as the existing lift.
After the last day of operations, April 17, 2022, the dismantling of Seven Brothers Triple will begia immediately as the preparations to install Seven Brother Express Quad (previously the Kanc Quad) begin. The goal is to complete all the initial linework before summer operations on Memorial Day weekend. The high-speed quad will more than double the maximum rope speed of the current triple chairlift – going from 450 feet to 1,000 feet per minute.
Since the dismantling of the Kanc Quad last spring, the lift has undergone a rigorous makeover. The top and bottom terminals have been updated and will give the lift a fresh new look. Both new operator houses are under construction at a local facility in Woodstock and will be returned to Loon once completed. A lot of the rebuilt mechanical equipment has already been received and is back on-site, ready for installation.
The current timeline sees the Seven Brothers Express Quad fully installed and opening for the 2022/23 winter season.
