Logo For FIS World Championships Zhangjiakou 2021 Revealed

The Zhangjiakou 2021 Organising Committee has released the official logo of the FIS Freestyle Ski, Freeski & Snowboard World Championships. 

The logo is composed of elements representing mountains, ramps, snowflakes and Dajingmen, which is the only gate of the Great Wall of China. 

The rolling mountains, one of the most conspicuous topographical features of Zhangjiakou, share their elegant outlines with courses and the Big Air Venue, making an excellent representation of skiing and snowboarding. 

The snowflakes are what Zhangjiakou is widely known for — it is honoured as one of the top-10 ice and snow tourism cities of China, and by presenting a pair of it, the LOC intends for the golden snowflake to stand for Zhangjiakou, the host city where the Genting Snow Park stands, and the blue one for Shijingshan where the Shougang Park is located. 

In the centre of the emblem lie the names of the host country and host city, the title of the event, and the year when it will take place. 

The Great Wall and Dajingmen at the bottom highlight Zhangjiakou’s long history and rich culture. The logo is gold and blue, respectively hinting at bright sunlight and clear sky. 

At the ceremony, Guo Ying, Executive Vice President and Secretary General of the Organising Committee said, “The logo highlights Zhangjiakou’s cultural tradition and characteristics, and expresses the keen aspiration of the 4.65 million local people for the upcoming world championships and for building a community with a shared future for mankind. It will become a cultural legacy for the development of FIS freestyle ski, freeski and snowboard sports.”

FIS Secretary General Sarah Lewis added via video, “Today is an important landmark for the Zhangjiakou 2021 Championships, with the launch of the official logo that really resembles exactly what these championships are all about. It shows the unique and very famous feature of the Great Wall of China as well as the mountains, the snow and the dynamic nature of these championships. The FIS Freestyle Ski, Freeski & Snowboard World Championships Zhangjiakou 2021 are the first ever event this level to be organised in China. We are convinced that this will be the start of many such events in the future, which will be a tremendous catalyst for the growth of winter sports in China.”
