Wide range of offers in Tyrol
Tyrol offers a diverse and high-quality range of winter sports. 52 award-winning ski areas invite you to make tracks on perfectly groomed slopes. In addition, 65 natural toboggan runs and 16 cross-country ski areas bear the state's seal of quality and guarantee winter fun for young and old again this year. Just recently, two more ski areas (Obergurgl ski area and Mieders ski area) and four natural toboggan runs (Oetztal section 1 natural toboggan run, Ötztal section 2 natural toboggan run, Höllensteinhütte natural toboggan run and Tulfein - Halsmarter natural toboggan run) were newly awarded, as well as the quality seal for nine ski areas, three cross-country ski areas and 18 natural toboggan runs extended.
Strict criteria must be met
The state of Tyrol guarantees quality and safety on ski slopes, cross-country ski trails and natural toboggan runs with the respective seal of approval. In order to be considered for issuing the seal of approval, operators and tourism associations must apply. This is followed by an examination by experts from the state. Among other things, safety precautions at danger spots, regular preparation and maintenance as well as uniform signage are basic requirements for an award. The degree of difficulty of the slopes, cross-country ski runs and toboggan runs is also evaluated. In ski areas, a piste rescue service must also be available.
Best possible framework conditions and appeal to personal responsibility
“With the seal of quality for ski areas, toboggan runs and cross-country ski runs, we as the state of Tyrol, together with the operators of the facilities, ensure the best possible conditions, so that nothing stands in the way of a relaxing day of winter sports in the Tyrolean mountains. Nevertheless, I would also like to appeal to the personal responsibility of each and every individual as well as mutual consideration, so that people treat each other with care and the respective rules of conduct are observed,” emphasizes sports officer LHStv Dornauer.
