Lenzerheide Bergbahnen: Water Leak At The Heidbuel Reservoir

On June 6, 2023, an unwanted water leak was discovered at the Heidbüel reservoir in the municipality of Churwalden. As a result, Lenzerheide Bergbahnen AG immediately initiated the drainage of the lake. Specialists, responsible persons from the municipality of Churwalden and the dam supervisory authority of the canton of Graubünden were on site to assess the situation.
The cause of the water leak is not yet known and is the subject of further investigations. With the lowering of the lake level and precautionary safety measures at the exit point, the water discharge could be reduced. At no time was there any danger to persons.
As a precaution, the hiking and biking trails between Heidbüel and Churwalden were closed due to the draining of the lake.
