Leitner Upgrades Salzburg Untersbergbahn

Since 1961, the Untersbergbahn has been transporting hikers to the Untersberg, one of the most popular recreational areas in the city of Salzburg. The valley station of the Untersbergbahn in Grädig / St. Leonhard can be reached from Salzburg in less than half an hour. Afterwards, the entry cableway brings its passengers to the Geiereck mountain station (1,776 m) in nine minutes, overcoming a difference in altitude of 1,320 m.

LEITNER GmbH was able to win the order for comprehensive rail renewal in 2017. LEITNER GmbH has many years of experience in the conversion and modernization of aerial tramways and took over the complete project handling.

The renewal of the aerial tramway took place in two stages, each time during the revision period. Thus, among other things, the suspension cable guide, the suspension cable tensioning device and all the traction pulley batteries were successively developed and installed. At the heart of the modernization are the new cabins with a capacity of 50 (+1) persons, which harmoniously integrate into the renewed platform area of ​​the valley station.
