LEITNER Highlights Role In Southeast Asia's Ropeway Industry
In 1996, LEITNER pioneered a transformative project with Genting Highland Resort, constructing the longest and fastest ropeway in Southeast Asia. Our renowned 8-seater gondola lift, the "GD8 Genting Highlands", has safely and swiftly transported over 100 million passengers. With a span of 3,576 meters and 106 cabins, it has a capacity to transport 2,400 people per hour.
Overcoming Challenges: Upgrading Control Systems Amidst Dense Jungle
In 2011, LEITNER took on the demanding task of updating the control systems. Given that the route runs almost entirely through a dense jungle, traditional ground work was not an option. Our expert service team defied these obstacles by efficiently laying skyway cables for selective safety circuits and data transmission.
Sustainable Tourism and Environmental Responsibility
In 2016, to enhance the travel experience for the 20 million annual visitors of the Genting Highland Resort, Leitner built a new ropeway. Located in a breathtaking 130-million-year-old rainforest, the "GD10 Awana Skyway" serves as both an attraction and a utility. It not only manages daily check-ins for the world's largest hotel, located in the resort, but also offers riders panoramic rainforest views during their 10-minute journey.
