La Sportiva Updates Core Mountain & Climbing Models For Spring 2019
La Sportiva celebrates 90 years of product innovation for the mountain enthusiast with four footwear styles in the Mountain and Climbing categories for Spring 2019. All new models are designed for performance in the mountains in categories that La Sportiva has long been successful in. The Nepal and Trango series boots set the standard for tackling high altitude objectives while the Testarossa offers sports car performance for sending steep sport climbing and bouldering routes. Mountain and Climbing are the two pinnacle product categories for a brand that has been innovating for 90 years and refuses to settle for mediocre performance.
“In the midst of our 90 year, La Sportiva is demonstrating that we have no intentions of slowing down,” says Jonathan Lantz, president of La Sportiva North America. “We’ve always been committed to product R&D and pushing the envelope with new products that allow mountain athletes to perform at their best. For Spring 2019, we are continuing that tradition particularly in categories that are core to our brand with great new styles for mountaineers and climbers.
The Nepal series of mountain boots has been in the La Sportiva collection in some form for over 30 years and are the standard by which all mountain boots are measured. For Spring 2019, both the Nepal Cube GTX and Nepal EVO GTX feature technical enhancements and comfort improvements to create boots that are even better performers. Specifically, each boot has a new gaiter at the top of the boot for better integration with apparel and ability to keep out snow and debris. Both models also integrate updated graphics.
The Mountain category has also long been the home of the Trango Series, a lighter weight line of boots specifically built for more technical objectives. For Spring 2019, a new model joins the Trango collection called the new Trango Tech GTX. An ultra-lightweight and technical mountaineering boot that can cross over to backpacking, this 21.8 ounce boot is more flexible than other Trango models for better smearing when climbing vertical rock and also more comfort when walking long miles. The seamless construction and QB3 waterproof fabric ensure waterproof performance in a boot priced at $269.
La Sportiva continues to develop the best rock climbing shoes on the planet with the updated Testarossa. Long a favorite for steep sport routes and bouldering, the Testarossa will now have more rubber on the heel for effective heel-hooking, while the P3 Power Platform continues to maintain the shoes powerful downturned shape over time.
