La Sportiva’s 2024 Ski Collection Brings New Levels Of Backcountry Performance

La Sportiva, makers of the world’s finest mountain gear, announced today its ski hard-good collection for Fall 2024. The Italian brand is releasing four new ski models this year, the Capo, the Tempo, the Sorriso, and the Salto, along with two new lightweight alpine touring boots, the Kilo, and the Stratos Hybrid. This latest collection reflects La Sportiva’s relentless pursuit of innovation, marrying advanced technology with exceptional design to provide lightweight models that enhance the backcountry skiing experience.

2024 Skis – Less Weight, More Fun

“When designing the 2024 ski collection, we set out with one question in mind: how do we make our skis lighter without sacrificing performance,” said Jonathan Lantz, president of La Sportiva North America. “We found a unique combination of materials that helped to lighten these models by 20% without inhibiting their dampening ability. Our team found that the addition of D30®, an innovative material used in crash protection pieces, helped eliminate chatter and improve overall performance.”

The 110-waisted Sorriso is the ideal choice for skiers looking to charge in the backcountry. Designed for speed and large arcs, it features a minimal camber and a dynamic wood core made of five different materials. Aluminum stringers and D30® inserts help to enhance the responsiveness and dampness of the ski without increasing weight. This unique combination comes together to create a surfy powder machine that promises performance on the boldest of lines. The Sorriso retails for $899.

The 103 mm underfoot Tempo is reimagined for this season; with a 20% weight reduction and brand-new materials, it’s the ultimate one-ski quiver for backcountry adventures. Its new core construction ensures outstanding edge hold and performance, offering a blend of lightweight agility and unbeatable stability. The Paulownia wood core is supported by full-length aluminum stringers and D30 dampening inserts in the tip and tail, allowing the ski to perform in all conditions. This 1400-gram ski has a price point of $949.

The Capo is redesigned for the 2024 season and re-establishes itself as the boss of the slopes with a new core construction similar to what is used in the Tempo. This powder ski brings an unmatched combination of pop, power, and lightweight agility, which is perfect for navigating the powdery depths of untouched slopes. At 117 mm underfoot, the new $949 Capo weighs just 1550g, making it a fantastic option for those who want to keep skiing the deep stuff all day long.

Lastly, the Salto has been meticulously re-engineered to create a model that is perfect for big ski mountaineering objectives. The new version has an extended effective edge and a poplar-infused core, which provides exceptional edge hold and stiffness, making it the go-to ski for thrilling descents and precise maneuvers. With a 92mm waist and a weight of 1400 grams, the $899 Salto is the perfect weapon for spring adventures in the alpine.

2024 Boots – Carbon Infused Performance

“As technology continues to improve, we have been able to push the boundaries of what lightweight ski boots can do,” explains Lantz. “A perfect example of this is the Kilo, a one kg carbon infused boot that provides amazing performance while skiing.”

The $899 Kilo is a powerful lightweight boot tailored to the needs of the ski mountaineer looking to maximize uphill performance without compromising downhill prowess. The boot’s innovative design centers around the Grilamid Bio Based LF Carbon™ shell and cuff, which provides exceptional durability and stiffness without increasing weight. The Force™ Shell Closure System ensures an optimal fit and ideal pressure distribution, while a new last accommodates a wide variety of foot shapes, with more space around the medial side of the ankle. All of this is included in a package that weighs just 1000g.

Another new model for 2024 is the Stratos Hybrid, a carbon-cuffed racing boot designed to meet the needs of the most demanding ski-mountaineering athletes. This boot sets a new benchmark in its category, shedding as many grams as possible without sacrificing downhill performance. The Stratos Hybrid weighs a mere 730g and features a seamless ski-walk mechanism derived from the award-winning Stratos boot. The Stratos Hybrid has an MSRP of $1299.

These new models will be available at retailers nationwide and at www.sportiva.com in Fall 2024.
