Kathrin Tschumi Discusses Her Work As Head Of Human Resources At Schilthornbahn
Recently Kathrin Tschumi started her work as Head of Human Resources at Schilthornbahn AG. It is a varied and broad task that challenges and motivates her at the same time. But what are the challenges and what goals does the experienced HR professional have?
Tschumi has been working as Head of Human Resources in the extended management of Schilthornbahn AG. The Solothurn native has many years of professional experience as a human resources specialist. Most recently at Spitex Aare-Gürbetal AG, the qualified human resources manager NDS HF also worked in the healthcare sector at Klinik Südhang and Schlossgarten Riggisberg. Tschumi likes this area, but she was still keen to move to a tourism company. "My tasks at Schilthornbahn are extremely varied, which I really appreciate and which suits me," says the 49-year-old.
An (almost) one-woman show
"Sometimes, however, not everything is always clearly regulated and I am challenged accordingly," she laughs. The challenge, however, motivates Tschumi a lot. In fact, the tasks in the human resources department of the Schilthornbahn are varied and broad; there are no specialists for specific human resources topics. Tschumi handles all formal processes related to joining, during employment and leaving, is an information point and supporter in matters of recruiting and supporting staff, and handles wages, social insurance, permits and other human resources tasks. She is actively supported in this part-time role by Sabine Lüthi, who worked in the company's central department for many years and has a correspondingly large amount of know-how. "Sabine is incredibly valuable; I have often been able to draw on her many years of internal knowledge," confirms Tschumi. The focus of her induction was to gain an insight into the various operational areas as quickly as possible and to ensure day-to-day business. In the meantime, conceptual project and strategy-related topics are also in focus: "I am currently getting an overview of the basics and resources in my area and will make recommendations to the management," Tschumi continues. She will also soon be revising the service regulations. "That sounds a bit outdated, but it reflects the attractiveness of the employer; be it in the way working hours are structured, in the fringe benefits or the wage policy. Looking ahead, topics such as employee retention and retention as well as the design of collaboration are key for me," Tschumi explains.
“It takes everyone to be successful”
In addition to all her tasks, the woman from Reichenbach appreciates the exchange with very different people and the insight into other worlds and stories. Such a large and important task also requires relaxation. Tschumi gets this from reading crime novels or playing sport - for her, the ideal mental hygiene. The joy of her work also motivates her every day. "It is great to be part of the SCHILTHORNBAHN 20XX success story," says Tschumi happily. "The major project is an enormous task, it requires an incredible amount of flexibility, willingness to change and energy from everyone. It is gratifying to see how well the entire Schilthornbahn team is getting through this project." This cannot be taken for granted. In conclusion, Tschumi also hopes that everyone will treat each other with care and respect. Because everyone is needed for success.
