KAT100 To Offer Shorter Routes
Hobby runners and trail running beginners will find the KAT100 in the Kitzbühel Alps the perfect opportunity for an enjoyable start into the world of trail running. Five different routes lead through the impressive mountains around the PillerseeTal.
Trail running or "mountain running", as the Tyroleans would say, is very trendy. This is also the case in PillerseeTal , where the third edition of the KAT100 will take place from August 4th to 6th . Austria's longest ultra trail has not only made a name for itself in the professional scene, but is also very popular with amateur runners. No fewer than five routes with different characteristics lead through the impressive mountains of the Kitzbüheler Alpen. While the KAT100 Miles with 173.9 kilometers and the Endurance and Marathon Trail with 91.5 and 48.2 kilometers are intended more for experienced runners and are considered qualifiers for the Ultra Trail de Mont Blanc (UTMB), they are for beginners , hobby runners and spontaneous people can choose between two runs that are easier to manage but no less attractive.
Try and enjoy with Easy, Speed and Kids Trail
Above all, spontaneous people and beginners can use the Easy Trail to slowly approach the topic of "mountain running" and get a taste of trail running even without much experience. From the village center of Fieberbrunn, the 8-kilometer route leads past the picturesque Lauchsee to the Schwarzhäusl, where most of the 243 meters in altitude have already been completed. The route leads back to the village center along the wild, rushing Pletzerbach. “The Easy Trail is ideal for beginners . A manageable distance with only a slight increase on easy terrain and still varied, so that running is really enjoyable,” explains Angelika Hronek, KAT100 project manager at the TVB PillerseeTal. If you want a little more, we recommend the Speed Trail with a length of 24.2 kilometers , which guarantees two fantastic summit experiences with Wildseeloder and Henne. To ensure that the 1,640 vertical meters don't become torture but an experience, "you should start training now at the latest. There are still 6 weeks left and you should already be prepared for the Speed Trail,” Hronek continues. The Kids Trail has developed into a real success. From the U6 to the U16, the youngsters can compete on distances of 500 to 1500 meters in the center of Fieberbrunn . The fun is clearly in the foreground and for the kids the atmosphere at the finish line is at least as great as with the top runners on the longest Ultra Trail in Austria.
