K2 Sports Celebrates New Recon And Luv Ski Boots
K2 Sports commemorated their incredible fifty-six year heritage by hosting a party to celebrate the retail launch of their new men’s Recon and women’s Luv ski boot collections, featuring the revolutionary, light-as-air, Powerlite Shell. The American ski company also took guests behind the scenes of the creation process at their state-of-the-art Development Center and Workshop near their headquarters in Seattle, and premiered a fresh boot feature video entitled The Recon and Luv Collection, starring some of the most talented skiers in the world.
K2 has always been at the forefront of innovation within the ski industry. For more than five decades, the all-American brand has been determined to make top performance ski gear for gold medal racers, hot-doggers, freestylers, backcountry explorers, rowdy big mountain senders and everyone in between. With the next generation of builders in attendance, friends, pro team members, retailers and VIP guests met with some of the most innovative minds in skiing. Upon arrival at K2’s Development Center, guests made their way down the Hall of Innovation for a first-of-it’s kind workshop tour experience to witness where all the magic happens.
Partygoers experienced live demonstrations from the dedicated builders, engineers and product managers behind K2’s product line. Attendees got a feel for the brand’s PhD science, design, purposeful prototyping, production and testing of the products they know and love, and got a chance to stand in the very spot where K2 builds the world’s best performance ski equipment that continues to shape the ski industry.
With over 50 years of heritage rooted in superior craftsmanship, K2 has enough history to fill a museum, and they did just that. After the Hall of Innovation, guests enjoyed a walk down memory lane as they traversed through the K2 Museum of History. The exhibit navigated guests across the evolution of the brand and personality through the years, showed how they’ve been designing skis and boots for their friends for decades and underscored how the company is constantly exploring ways to make products faster, lighter, more intuitive and more fun. The installation also showcased K2’s 50-plus Years of Serious Fun, and displayed gear, posters, and memorabilia from each unforgettable decade.
As for the party vibes, K2 pulled out all the stops to keep the stoke level high all night long. DJ Baby van Beezly kept the music bumping while guests enjoyed free sliders, fries and of course, local beer. Other highlights included customary après accouterments such as an ice luge and shot ski shots for guests to partake in.
To top it all off, VIP guests received a spanking new pair of K2’s most revolutionary ski boots that are already changing the landscape forever, the Recon boots for men and Luv boots for women. After two decades of tinkering, cobbling, and of course, good old-fashioned American ingenuity,K2 designed these boots with comfort and performance in mind. A main feature is their “light as air” POWERLITE shell. Built to provide a paradoxical balance of lightweight agility and responsive power, they are setting the precedent for years to come, and will make you want to grab first chair and spin laps until après.
The grand finale of the evening was the premiere of K2’s new Recon and Luv Collection feature video that pays homage to the years of relentless vision and innovation that the American ski company has under their belts and how the brand did what industry critics said couldn’t be done.
