It's Just Not News... Yet ANOTHER FWT Wildcard
Spanish athlete Elisabet Marina Vilanova will make her FWT debut in Baqueira Beret, after being awarded an event wildcard in the ski women’s category. The young local has climbed the FWT Qualifier ranks in recent years, and will now have a chance to prove her position among the world’s best freeriders.
Elisabet has spent a life dedicated to sports, getting into gymnastics at just three years of age through the influence of her father, who was once on the Spanish national team. The rigors of training throughout her youth have instilled a strong work ethic, which she has since applied to her skiing career. Elisabet only started skiing regularly at 15, but her speed of progression has been phenomenal. At 16, she was already sending backflips, and she soon started competing in FWT Junior events, achieving three wins in her second competitive year. She naturally transitioned into FWT Qualifier events with varying success until her breakout season last year, winning both the 2* and 3* No Limits Freeride Bruson FWT Qualifier events, and finishing fourth at Verbier FWT Qualifier 4*. These results earned her a bib in the FWT Qualifier Finals, where she gained valuable experience on bigger faces against the best up-and-coming freeride athletes.
“I am honored to compete in a FWT event in my home mountains. I am excited to share the start gate with the best freeriders in the world and to show my best riding.” said Elisabet Marina Vilanova, FWT competitor
