ISPO Publishes Key Winter Sports Calendar Competition Event Dates

A new World Cup winter starts. The ski heroes chase down the slopes and ski jumping hills again or sprint through the cross-country ski runs of the world. ISPO.com shows the winter sports dates for biathlon and Co., when the stars are guesting nearby, when the Four Hills Tournament takes place - and when it is probably better to follow the events on the couch.

Winter Sports Dates in Biathlon: Without Laura Dahlmeier, but With Dominator Johannes Thingnes Bö

The winter sports dates in the biathlon start at the World Championships venue from March 2019: in Östersund in Sweden. The Norwegian Johannes Thingnes Bö won the gold medal four times at the World Championships. He wants to defend the title this winter in Antholz, Italy, where the biathletes' highlight of the season will take place in February.

The German biathlon fans have to do without the almost familiar: the top athlete Laura Dahlmeier, who retired from winter sports after the 2018/19 season. The Czech Gabriela Koukalova has also stopped.

Alpine Skiing: German Kitzbühel Experts, Hirscher No Longer a Part of It

Without Marcel Hirscher, Aksel Lund Svindal and Felix Neureuther, skiing is looking for new front men - and after the end of Lindsey Vonn's career also for a new front woman. One candidate is the Norwegian Henrik Kristoffersen. The technical specialist could already triumph at the end of October on the first World Cup weekend, which women and men will compete together in a giant slalom in Sölden.

But also the German downhill racers around the two Kitzbühel winners Thomas Dreßen and Josef Ferstl (won there in the Super-G) give hope: Their highlight of the season will of course take place at the end of January, when the "Streif" in Kitzbühel/Austria is back. One week later they will start in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, where on 02/08-02/09/2020 also the women will be guests.

Winter Sports Dates: Ski Jumping Highlights Four Hills Tournament and Ski Flying World Championships in Planica

Even in Olympic winters, the Four Hills Tournament in Germany and Austria on the hills of Oberstdorf, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Innsbruck and Bischofshofen is at least as important a highlight for ski jumpers. This winter, it will start on 12/29/2019 with the opening jump and traditionally end with the Dreikönigsspringen in Bischofshofen (01/06/2020).

Another highlight will take place at the end of the season: the World Ski Flying Championships in Planica/Slovenia. The Japanese Ryōyū Kobayashi, the Austrian Stefan Kraft, the Pole Kamil Stoch or the Germans Markus Eisenbichler, Karl Geiger and Andreas Wellinger should be the favourites again.

World Championships in Bobsleigh, Speed Skating and Figure Skating

In most sports there is no World Championship in winter 2019/20. The Nordic World Ski Championships will take place in Oberstdorf again in 2021, the Alpine World Championships in Cortina d'Ampezzo/Italy in the same year.

Nevertheless, besides ski pilots, speed skaters, figure skaters, tobogganists and bobsleigh and skeleton pilots will meet for world title fights in this World Cup winter. Here are the dates.
