An extensive conference in the Future Lab, the latest product and textile trends, lots of networking events, prominent athletes, a renowned prize winner of the ISPO Cup and the Who's Who of the sports business. In addition to the product innovations of the more than 1500 exhibitors from 55 countries, ISPO Munich offers comprehensive insights into the entire ecosystem of the sports industry at its November premiere. "It is already clear in advance that we need new perspectives on the market, the consumers, the trade and the sport itself. Only together will we be able to solve the diverse challenges in our industry.
And without truly sustainable approaches and offers, we won't get very far in our business. ISPO Munich not only wants to discuss all the essential questions of our industry, but also be the central lobby platform for sport and give it the important voice that corresponds to its position in society," says Tobias Gröber, Head of ISPO Group. Exhibitors at ISPO Munich 2022 include brands and companies from the outdoor, sports fashion, snowsports, health & fitness, textile trends and sourcing segments.
The topic of sustainability plays an important role in the ISPO Conference. For example, Eva Karlsson (Houdini) and Antje von Dewitz (VAUDE) will talk about the latest developments in circular and regenerative business models. The conference will open on the first day of the fair with a panel on the future of winter sports in the face of climate change and energy scarcity. John Yang, CEO of Helly Hansen China, will also give an insight into the development of winter sports in Asia.
Other speakers at the conference include Merijn Dols, Global Director for Open Innovation and Circular Economy Danone and Joao Paulo Ferreira, CEO Natura. Over 70 start-ups will also be represented in the Future Lab with their product and solution innovations in the ISPO Brandnew Area. In the ISPO Award Area, the almost 100 winning products of the current ISPO Awards will be on display.
As part of the Retail Breakfast, Margit Gosau, CEO SPORT 2000 International GmbH, will talk about successful category management in sports retail on the morning of the second day of the fair. Further topics of the retail special on Tuesday morning are recruitment, customer loyalty and digital transformation.
With the newly designed ISPO Cup, a company that makes an outstanding positive contribution to society will be honoured on the first day of the trade fair. The ISPO Cup will be presented to the outdoor clothing company Patagonia at an evening event on Monday - followed by the ISPO Party. The company has stood for sustainable business for decades. Company founder Yvon Chouinard transferred his shares in the company to two foundations[CK2] in September, which are to use all profits that are not reinvested in the company in future for the fight against global warming and for nature conservation.
Many active and former athletes will also visit ISPO Munich. For example, on the first day of the trade fair, Olympic tennis champion Alexander Zverev and his brother Mischa will inform visitors about the latest training technologies in professional sports - also with the help of virtual reality - at a press conference organised by improvr.
Professional cyclist and ski mountaineer Anton Palzer will address the topic of biohacking in a live recording for the Red Bull podcast, together with other experts. Olympic decathlon champion Christian Schenk, who has just organised an "all-inclusive" festival for people with and without disabilities in Rostock, will shed light on the topics of diversity and lobbying for good together with cyclist and Paralympics medallist Denise Schindler and social entrepreneur Katharina Inselkammer.
Among others, the ex-Alpine skier Felix Neureuther, the alpinist Kazuja Hiraide, who was the first Japanese to receive the 17th Piolet d'Or Award, the "Academy Award" of mountaineering, the multiple surf world champion Björn Dunkerbeck and the Swiss kiteboard world champion and freerider Maxime Chabloz have also confirmed their attendance. And under the motto "Stories to be told", a session led by Sky presenter Laura Lutz will present prominent Female Entrepreneurs personalities and female athletes - powered by Frauen Verbinden, the Female Empowerment Initiative of Messe München.
In addition to ISPO's current Consumer Insights Report with a brand ranking and trend forecast, the latest basic data on the sports market from various market partners will be presented at ISPO Munich. Deloitte and McKinsey will present the latest figures and findings, the European Outdoor Group and Textilwirtschaft will present new studies for the trade.
Parallel to ISPO Munich, therapie München will also be held for the first time at the exhibition centre in the ICM. The trade fair with congress is aimed at physiotherapists, occupational therapists and sports therapists as well as masseurs and medical bath attendants. A total of 90 exhibitors will show products and services for the growing therapy and medical rehabilitation market. Also at the ICM on 29 November is the Runner's World running symposium. In expert lectures and analyses, the current developments in the running industry will also be illuminated for the trade. Companies such as Adidas, Arion, Falke, Joe Nimble, On and True Motion will present themselves there.
"ISPO Munich is not only a showcase for new products in the sporting goods industry, it is the central industry meeting place where personal contacts between manufacturers, retailers and other industry players are in the foreground. With the new date at the end of November, we are right at the start of the order period," says Lena Haushofer, Exhibition Director of ISPO Munich.
