International "Skiareatest" Honours Best Ski Areas 2018/19

The “International Skiareatest”, an enterprise dedicated to developing quality, safety and offers in Alpine tourism, invited honourees and guests from the cable car and tourism industry to a winner’s brunch held on the ships of the Achenseeschifffahrt (AUT). Skiareatest President Klaus Hönigsberger was delighted to greet over 300 guests, including Olympic and World Champion Annemarie Möser-Pröll. Fellow former Alpine athlete Alexander Meissnitzer used the occasion to present the candidacy of Saalbach for the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2025 to experts from the trade.

Victories this year went to KitzSki, who claimed an overall trophy, a breakthrough award for new lifts at the Kitzbüheler Horn, a site manager trophy, a marketing trophy, a safety trophy and a trophy for the friendliness of the staff. Also the Mayrhofer Bergbahnen was able to take home multiple awards: an overall trophy, a site manager trophy, an award for the idea and implementation of their Iglu Village White Lounge and a Special Trophy for the 50thanniversary of the “Ahorn-Bahn”. The “Aletsch Bahn” in Switzerland was honoured for its “Best Children’s offers” and a safety trophy.

These and multiple other winners enjoyed an evening hosted by President Hönigsberger and Silvia Fontanive, gourmet food prepared by a mobile food truck on a Prinoth snow groomer and musical entertainment by Zillertal Harmonie and Karl & Hans Geisler.
