Important Insights Into The Role Of “Generation Z” Presented At Prodinger Tourism Summit In Kitzbuhel,

At the recently held Prodinger Tourism Summit in Kitzbühel, important insights into the role of “Generation Z” in the travel market were presented.

Marco Riederer, Managing Director of the Prodinger Consulting Group, presented the main points of a new trend report. It was particularly highlighted that Generation Z is expected to make up more than a third of all travelers by 2030.

Members of Generation Z, born between 1996 and 2010, grew up with new technologies and digital possibilities. Young people in this age group therefore expect digital services and modern equipment on vacation. "Mobile apps for room control, service orders and information are a must," analyzes Riederer. Fast WiFi in hotels is a matter of course for Generation Z. In addition, "Zetties", as they are also called, are open to chatbots and virtual assistants, which will play an important role in the tourism of the future.

Another big issue for Generation Z is sustainable travel. Hotels should have sustainability certificates and be run in an environmentally friendly way to meet the expectations of this target group. Regional and organic food offerings as well as support for the local culture and community are also preferred.

In addition, young people prefer adventure accommodation and boutique hotels because they value authentic holiday experiences. Individuality plays a major role in choosing a travel destination. Therefore, this market segment opens up a wide range of opportunities for different providers.

The strong presence and influence of “Zetties” on social media significantly influences their travel decisions, making them a crucial target group for the future of tourism. Their expectations for technology, sustainability and personalized experiences require innovative approaches and flexible offerings.

The trend report "Next Generation Hotels" goes into detail about how Generation Z's preferences differ from those of other age groups. They prefer smaller, more authentic accommodations over large luxury resorts. In addition, the trend to combine work and leisure is more pronounced than among older generations. Despite the preference for technological solutions, personal customer service remains welcome.

For the trend report, students at the New Design University St. Pölten have developed pioneering concepts for alpine hotels that are perfectly tailored to the needs of the anything but homogeneous Generation Z. In order to precisely address the diverse lifestyles and values of this generation, we worked intensively with the Sinus milieus. These models group people according to similar social situations and values, which enables us to develop tailor-made recommendations for different subgroups within Generation Z.

The aim of the trend report is to provide accommodation providers, tourism professionals and policy makers with deeper insights and practical recommendations to effectively address and serve this important target group. The future of travel is increasingly digital, and those who want to win the hearts of Generation Z must be able to operate confidently on this playing field.

The printed report comprises 84 pages and can be ordered for 98 euros plus VAT.
