Icebreaker To Plant A Tree For Every Holiday Purchase
Icebreaker, the New Zealand-based apparel brand and leader in sustainable clothing, is giving back to nature this holiday season by planting one tree for every purchase made through icebreaker.com in the North American region. The initiative begins on Giving Tuesday, December 1, and will continue up until the brand has donated a total of 25,000 trees.
Icebreaker is thrilled to partner with One Tree Planted for the program, and will work with the non-profit to plant the 25,000 trees donated in areas of California and Colorado that were most devastated by this season’s wildfires. The initiative aims to help in rebuilding forests within these areas while encouraging consumers to choose nature this giving season.
“2020 has been a difficult year for the entire world, our environment not excluded,” said Cameron Walker, GM and VP of icebreaker North America. “We’ve seen catastrophic damage all across the globe as a direct result of climate change. This holiday season, we wanted to give back to those areas most affected while hoping to inspire others to take care of the planet as well.”
The donation is yet another effort by the natural apparel brand in supporting sustainability and environmental activism, which are at the core of the company’s values. Earlier this year, icebreaker also announced a long term commitment and ambition to produce 100% plastic-free materials by 2023, eradicating synthetics from its entire collection within three years. The brand has already initiated a variety of changes towards achieving this goal, including removal of 59 skus of synthetic-heavy styles from its Fall/Winter 2020 collection and implementing use of innovative natural textiles such as Cool-Lite™, TENCEL™, RealFleece®, and MerinoLoft™.
