Hunter Mountain Invests In Automated Snowmaking And Two New Lifts

Hunter Mountain investment in automated snowmaking and two new lifts.

What this summer’s investment in automated snowmaking and two new lifts at Hunter means for you (the skier and rider) this winter:

  • 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆: Instead of the need for staff to monitor and activate each snowgun across the mountain,  automated snowmaking allows the team to focus on other elements of the guest experience while the snowmaking system does its thing – engaging when the atmospheric conditions are right and shutting down when they’re not. By adding even more automation to our state-of-the-art snowmaking system, they’re able to do more.
  • 𝗘𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗲𝗿 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗧𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻: Already New York’s only ski resort with two six-pack chairlifts, adding a third to replace the Broadway Quad will ease pressure on the Kaatskill Flyer, the summit lift. This provides faster and more efficient way to reach intermediate terrain.
  • 𝗪𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲: In the face of New York’s notorious Eastern weather volatility, automation enhances consistent and reliable snow production during short weather windows. Together these two major projects will improve skiers’ and riders’ ability to move around the mountain, dispersing traffic. With 32 new automated snowguns on Way Out they’ll be able to connect Hunter North to Hunter West earlier in the season, adding a second backside lift to the holiday footprint.
