Hermann Maier Shows Skiing In The Coming Winter - Snow Space Salzburg Bergbahnen COVID Prevention Concept
In order to give skiers and snowboarders the best possible protection from a corona infection when practicing their winter sports, the Snow Space Salzburg Bergbahnen are taking comprehensive safety precautions for the upcoming winter season. An explanatory video with brand ambassador Hermann Maier was produced and recently presented to inform winter sports enthusiasts about the specific measures.
The current situation around COVID-19 poses new challenges for the entire winter tourism industry. In order to ensure that skiing can take place with the greatest possible safety in view of this special location, meticulous precautions are taken in the Snow Space Salzburg. The mountain railways rely on proactive communication of the measures. An animated explanation video was produced in which the Salzburg ski legend Hermann Maier explains the individual measures in detail. The video is intended to convey the individual precautions in a simple and understandable manner and can be viewed in advance on the Snow Space Salzburg website and social media channels and is also played on the info screens in the ski area and in the ski buses. The educational film will also be shown on the hotel TV channels.
Free tube scarf as mouth and nose protection
Above all, in those situations in which several people can meet, it is mandatory to wear a mask. This applies to the ride on the cable cars, queuing at the cash desk and queuing for the lifts, even if you are outdoors. Mouth and nose protection must be worn in closed rooms such as the sanitary facilities or common rooms of the mountain railways as well as in the sports shops, on the ski bus or when moving freely in the ski huts. When purchasing a ticket at the cash desk, ski guests receive a certified tube scarf free of charge, which is used as mouth and nose protection. This is comfortable to wear even with a ski helmet and also protects against the cold air. Your own scarf or a balaclava are also suitable as mouth and nose protection.
In addition to the mask requirement in the cable cars, the gondolas are regularly disinfected with a spray device. Skiers are also required to keep the windows in the gondolas open at all times so that the air can circulate well. In addition, it should be mentioned that a ride on one of the nine gondola lifts in Snow Space Salzburg takes an average of 8 minutes and 46 seconds, i.e. well below the official risk limit of 15 minutes, within which you should be in close contact with other people. Last but not least, all employees are subjected to daily health checks, suspected cases are immediately tested for corona.
Buying tickets online avoids queuing at the cash desk
Since last winter it has been possible to buy your ski ticket online and pick it up using a QR code at the ticket machine at all valley stations of the Snow Space Salzburg Bergbahnen. This possibility is now being advertised more intensively, so that queuing at the cash desk and thus long meetings with other people is avoided. The pick-up machine is the preferred alternative, especially for day guests. "Last winter we rolled out the ticket points across the board at all seven valley stations in Snow Space Salzburg," reports Wolfgang Hettegger, CEO of Snow Space Salzburg.
“Without knowing what to expect, our efforts to digitize the skiing experience have paid off. Because of this technical advantage, we had the chance to test and optimize the process for the guests for a whole winter. So we are well prepared for the upcoming season when it comes to purchasing tickets and can offer a convenient buying process that also avoids crowds of people at the cash registers, ”he continues.
"Multi-day guests can pick up their key cards directly at the accommodation's reception. If you still need to go to the mountain railway ticket office, this is mostly done outdoors. So that there are no queues in the indoor ticket halls, additional ticket containers will be set up outdoors in the Snow Space Salzburg in the coming season. So we are well prepared for the upcoming season when it comes to purchasing tickets and can offer a convenient buying process that also avoids crowds of people at the cash registers."
With confidence into the winter
With this safety concept, the Snow Space Salzburg Bergbahnen are optimistic about the coming winter season. After all, skiing also has many health-promoting effects, especially the positive effect on the psyche should be emphasized. “We assume that skiers do not want to miss out on practicing their winter sports. Because especially in these challenging times you need a balance. With our preventive measures, skiing can be practiced with the greatest possible safety and at the same time the special feeling of freedom and fun while skiing can be experienced, ”says Hettegger confidently. Snow Space Salzburg with the three ski resorts of Flachau, Wagrain and St. Johann - Alpendorf is also surprising in the upcoming winter season with an innovation that will go down in the skiing history of the region.
The new 10-seater Panorama Link gondola connects Snow Space Salzburg with the neighboring skiing areas of Flachauwinkl-Kleinarl and Zauchensee and enables coherent skiing fun over 12 peaks and 5 valleys. The result is one of the most diverse ski areas in the Alps with a total of 210 kilometers of slopes in the heart of Ski amadé.
