Guinness World Record For Leitner’s Cablebus 2 In Mexico City

The Cablebus 2 cableway recently inaugurated by LEITNER in Mexico City has been awarded the Guinness World Record in recent days. At 10.55 kilometers, the cable car is the longest urban cable car line in the world. 

The mayor of the city, Claudia Sheinbaum, proudly has the award and again wanted to emphasize the importance of this cable car. In addition to significantly improving the mobility of people in the populous Iztapalapa district, it allows for easy connection to metro stations, promoting greater social justice.

"With this construction, the longest ropeway line in Latin America, we have not only made an important and strategic investment in public transport, but also implemented a project that reduces social inequality," Claudia Sheinbaum, the Mayor of Mexico City, emphasized at the inauguration ceremony, which was also attended by Martin Leitner, member of the LEITNER Management Board.

For Carlos Tapia Rojas, official juror of Guinness World Records in Mexico, the social impact of Cablebus 2 is enormous: "This project will certainly inspire many people around the world to carry out similar projects and thus to solve mobility problems and improve their daily life of many people ".

The new cable car was put into operation on August 8 and has seven stations, which are also directly connected to the metro stations. The project was carried out by LEITNER together with its Mexican partner Alfa Proveedores Contratistas.
