Green Light For The New Hybrid Lift In Thyon
Télé-Thyon's ski lifts have recently received authorisation from the Federal Office of Transport to start work on the new facility that will connect Collons 1900 to Thyon 2000.
The Matze sector completely modified
The Theytaz 1 and Matze ski lifts will be dismantled and replaced by a hybrid lift combining 6-place chairlifts and 10-place cabins. This is a real revolution in this sector of Matze, which has great potential for family customers and is often less crowded than the rest of the resort. The removal of the 2 ski lifts will greatly widen the main field. In addition, Télé-Thyon will also optimise its snow-making network in this area this year to offer skiing at the very beginning of the season. More than a replacement of old facilities, this development is an innovation. In fact, Télé-Thyon will create the main thoroughfare for recreational development in this part of the ski fields. The quality and appeal of what is on offer in terms of skiing will be enhanced, but this project also responds to a desire to develop auxiliary activities like sledging, summer recreation and other more unusual activities. Equally important, this project will offer new mobility between the Collons and Thyon 2000 for pedestrians and beginners.
The 8 elegant panoramic “Porsche Design” cabins combine modernity and comfort, while the twenty-eight 6-seater chairlifts ensure a total capacity of 2,000 people per hour. Télé-Thyon has relied on the Swiss technology of the manufacturer Bartholet to realise this installation, which will obviously be able to transport mountain bikes as well as operate in the evening.
A hybrid lift and a ski lift to replace 3 installations
2023 will be an important year for the work of elevators on the Thyon side because another project will be carried out. The Petit Vallon sector will benefit from a new cable car, the pulley exit of which will bring new options to customers. On this site, much appreciated by beginners, Télé-Thyon will propose, from next winter, the possibility of going out to the left as to the right, which finally doubles the offer of skiing from this installation.
Stage 2 in 2028: Trabanta chairlift
The Trabanta chairlift, which is very popular with family customers, is scheduled to be replaced in 2028. The optimal solution for this main axis still needs to be coordinated with the ongoing developments in the region, particularly at the Thermes de la Dixence site. The installation of this future chairlift must be carefully considered, along with the mechanical or pedestrian connections between the Collons landings and the Thermes sites. These latest developments have necessarily led the ski lift company to reconsider the management of ski and pedestrian customer flows.
3rd step: 100% snow cover
Forerunner in the field of snow-making since 1985, Télé-Thyon currently guarantees more than 90% of its ski area. The undisguised objective is to ensure an efficient network that will eventually cover 100% of the fields. This involves finalising the network and equipment in different locations while considering the problem of energy consumption.
In this sense, Télé-Thyon has been equipped for several years with state-of-the-art snow-making systems that greatly reduce energy consumption. 3 clearly defined stages for the Télé-Thyon ski lifts showing optimism for the future but also adapting to the desires of tourists. The goal is to optimise the ski offer while developing access to the mountains and activities for all in winter and summer. The first achievements will be revealed in December!
