Giant Slalom And A Slalom For The 35th Edition Of The World Cup In Alta Badia

The 35th edition of the Ski World Cup in Alta Badia, will be different from what everyone expected but, thanks to the international event to be held on the Gran Risa slope on 20 and 21 December, the great passion for the world of skiing will still be transmitted in the same way as in other years. The athletes will be at the starting gate with the same motivation as always and the same desire to win on one of the most captivating routes of the entire Ski World Cup. The many fans will be able to follow the giant slalom and the slalom this year in world vision, will offer all their heartfelt support from home too. Because the ski family is a large one and is united even at a distance.

The first run of the traditional giant slalom will start at 10 am on Sunday 20 December, whereas the second run will take place at 1.30 pm. On Monday 21 December, the slalom racers will go on stage again at 10 am and will tackle the second run at 1.00 pm. All the races will be broadcast in world vision and can be easily watched on television.

THE 2020 TROPHIES: A CELEBRATION OF SPORT AND LIFE

The trophies, which will be awarded to the top three racers, will be made by the artist Daniele Basso again this year, who created the GIGANT sculpture installed at the start of the Gran Risa slope to celebrate the 30-year anniversary of the event. The trophies “are metaphors - explained Basso - of a history of passion, sport and beauty that is renewed every year in this magical event in the heart of the Dolomites”. The basic shape of the 2020 Trophy is the wonderful enchanted scenery of the Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage site, where the competitors fight for victory to the final tenth of a second. This prize has a consolidated symbolic shape, which is unique and can be recognised on the international stage. This year the trophy will be particularly explosive! A metaphor for the energy of the sport and the athletes and the television broadcasts, fundamental in this media edition of the event without spectators. An award deep-rooted in the present which reminds us of the value of “always getting up again”, an aspect that particularly in sport has many courageous examples to be followed, for constructing a better future.

ALTA BADIA SKI WORLD CUP: A FUNDAMENTAL PULL FOR WINTER TOURISM

The Alpine Ski World Cup races entered the heart of the residents of Alta Badia and the whole South Tyrol in the year 1985. The event has grown year after year, becoming an icon for the location, and making the location itself a reference point for ski lovers. “The aim of the two World Cup races this year more than ever is to support winter tourism in the valley. In an upcoming winter season full of uncertainties both on the part of the tourist operators and anyone wanting to book a ski holiday, there must be no shortage of signs of a return to normality, of never giving up and of believing in a good start and continuation of the winter season. All together, united in respect for the Covid regulations, concentrating on the desire for constant performance also for the Gran Risa athletes and aware that the future will return to smile on us, we welcome in the 35th edition of the Ski World Cup in Alta Badia”. These were the words of Andy Varallo, President of the Alpine Ski World Cup Alta Badia Organising Committee, for Alta Badia and for the entire ski world.

IMPORTANT PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN CORTINA 2021 AND THE O.C.s OF THE WORLD CUP VENUES

The Alpine ski world championships that will be held in Cortina d’Ampezzo next February are just around the corner. The partnership between the Organising Committees of the venues of the World Cup Alta Badia, Gardena, Madonna di Campiglio, Bormio and the Foundation Fondazione Cortina 2021 has been renewed. This is a project for the common development of Alpine skiing in Italy, for promoting the races together as part of joint communication actions. This is how the upcoming great sports events and the changes that the pandemic is imposing on the world of sport are to be tackled.

PARTNERS AND SPONSORS: UNITY IS STRENGTH

The Alpine Ski World Cup Alta Badia Organising Committee would like to give a heartfelt thanks to all the partners for their support. Despite the current difficulties and the reduced visibility of the various brands, the main partners have decided to support the Ski World Cup in Alta Badia in any case, behind the scenes and not on the stage like in previous years. This confirms the solid and healthy relationship that has been built up over the years between the partners and the Alpine Ski World Cup Alta Badia Organising Committee.
