Geneva Tourism Promotes City As Conference Venue
As one of Europe’s premier destinations for business-minded travel, Geneva has been helping businesses to reset and rejuvenate for decades, and it’s not hard to see why! Nestled between the stunning Swiss Alps and the largest lake in central Europe, Geneva pairs natural beauty with a vibrant, purposeful energy. Home to more than 35 international organisations and 250 NGOs, the city fosters an innovative, and truly global, atmosphere.
For the time-pressed conference planner
For the conference planner who is on a time crunch, the Geneva Convention Bureau is here to help you through the entire organisational process of your event, from bid preparation and negotiation of hotel rates to the promotion of your meeting, conference or exhibition. Offering their services completely free of charge, the Bureau has operated independently for more than 15 years and can be trusted to help find customised solutions for your group’s needs. When the time does to consider costs, it’s good to remember that Switzerland’s VAT rate is only 7.7%, the lowest in Europe.
For the Hybrid event
The Fondation Genève Tourisme & Congrès is an organisation dedicated to helping businesses arrange hybrid events in the post-Covid climate across a range of price points. Geneva has been a leader in post-pandemic MICE innovation and is regarded as a global leader in hybrid events. The Fondation Genève recently succeeded in organising one of the largest medical congresses in Europe, with over 8,000 online participants, in just a matter of weeks – a testament to their ability to make your next event a successful one, no matter the size.
For those who want the perfect venue…
Moving away from the virtual, Geneva is home to more than 35 hotels with in-house, state-of-the art conference facilities, all of which are 3 to 5-star destinations. One such hotel is the fantastic 4-star hotel The Crowne Plaza, a modern hotel that won Cvent’s MICE Venue of the Month for January 2022. The Crowne Plaza was recently renovated into a flexible living and workspace which is now home to two restaurants and 16 multi-purpose modular meeting rooms, allowing for conferences of up to 675 people.
… and for those struggling to find one
If you're looking to host your next conference to Geneva but are struggling to find the perfect venue for your needs, Geneva Tourism’s venue finder will be the perfect tool for you. Options range from a 300-person dinner aboard CGN Boat Simplon, an early 20th century steamboat, on the breath-taking Lake Geneva, to a 1000-person cocktail night at the majestic 19th century Grand Théâtre. Other unique venues that are only available in Geneva include the International Museum of the Red Cross and Red Crescent, a 17th century countryside chateau and the Ethnography Museum Geneva, so there truly is something for everyone.
For the perfect team-building activities
For those looking to offer conference attendees an opportunity to engage with some great team-building activities, then Geneva is the perfect choice. From a cheese fondue cooking class to a watchmaking tour of the city, there is something to suit every group. To experience the incredible wine that Geneva has to offer, head out on a wine tasting cruise, or if you want to fully experience the city that nurtures nature, then why not try kayaking down Geneva’s sparkling waterways? Surprise your conference guests with an out-of-this-world itinerary during your trip one of Europe’s most multifaceted cities.
When it comes to getting around...
Transport to, from and around Geneva is easy for you and your guests. Geneva airport runs direct flights to over 140 destinations, whilst high-speed trains connect the city to the rest of Europe. Six minutes by train takes you from the airport to the city centre – the shortest such time in Europe. Once checked into a hotel, all guests will then receive cards for free public transport across the duration of their stay in Geneva.
