Fiscal year 2022 - characterized by an upswing
As the Schilthornbahn reported in an earlier communication (linked below), the 2022 financial year was characterized by a renewed upswing after the pandemic. Both the business figures and the project and event activity of the company paint a pleasing picture. Visitor numbers were almost 60 percent up on the previous year and just under five percent below the five-year average. Total yield increased even more at 75.6 percent, suggesting significantly higher per capita yields. All business areas are affected by the positive development. At the same time, the ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of the SCHILTHORNBAHN 20XX railway project took place in the run-up to the last general assembly. Important preparatory work was then carried out.
Business of the 61st General Assembly
The annual report with the annual accounts for 2022 and the appropriation of the balance sheet profit were accepted. Discharge was granted to the Board of Directors and the Executive Board.
Elections: Ralph von Allmen, member of the Board of Directors, resigns from the Board of Directors. The former owner of Hotel Blumental in Mürren was elected to the Board of Directors in 2005. After 18 years, he is again handing over the office to a hotelier: Daniel Kuster-von Allmen, owner and managing director of the Hotel Edelweiss in Mürren since 1991, was elected for a term of three years. The father of three children is also Chairman of the Board of Directors of the EWL Genossenschaft Lauterbrunnen and the Mürren Water Supply.
The previous members of the Board of Directors were re-elected for a term of three years. KPMG AG from Bern was also elected as auditor for another year.
Fiscal year 2023 - seamlessly following on from the successful previous year
Last winter it became apparent that the positive development of 2022 would continue in the current financial year. Thanks to snow farming, the winter season started on November 5, 2022 and was the longest season to date with 159 operating days - two thirds more than the long-term average. And this with two thirds less snow! Income from excursion traffic is already 31 percent above the previous year and 36 percent above 2019. At the same time, the construction work on the SCHILTHORNBAHN 20XX is making great strides. The actual starting signal was given in March when the Käthi cable car was demolished. All stations are now under construction, which poses a major logistical challenge for the tourism company. Daily operations should continue largely undisturbed.
