G3 Jumps Into 17/18 Ski Season With More Awards And Accolades

G3, maker of cutting-edge backcountry ski and snowboard equipment, has earned a range of awards and accolades for its Fall 2017 ski collection. Recognition poured in from a range of ski and outdoor publications, ncluding Backpacker, Freeskier, Backcountry Magazine and Outdoor Gear Lab.

The ION 12 binding, SCALA LT skin, SENDr ski and ROAMr 100 ski were all lauded among the most notable backcountry ski-focused products this season.

For the fourth year in a row, the ION binding has continued to impress media with its simplicity and durability. This season, the ION 12 binding was named “Editor’s Pick” by Freeskier Magazine and “Editor’s Choice” by Backcountry Magazine. Both publications mentioned the binding’s versatility, with Backcountry Mag calling it “a no-bull option for any and all touring pursuits.”

The new ROAMr ski was named “Editor’s Choice” by Backpacker, whose testers loved the lightweight ski’s maneuverability and power. “The problem with lightweight skis, however, is on the downhill where they can be squirrelly on mixed terrain and chattery at high speeds,” says Backpacker. “It’s a compromise we’re used to accepting—but with the ROAMr, we don’t have to.”

G3’s powerful new SENDr ski also caught the attention of Backcountry Magazine, which included it in a roundup of 2018’s “Best Powder Skis.” The 112mm ski is one of the most powerful powder skis G3 has ever engineered. Titanal layers in the core combined with G3’s signature PU sidewalls allow the SENDr to have a powerful torque and responsiveness in a lightweight package.

G3 also continued its dominance in the climbing skins category, with Freeskier naming the SCALA LT “Editor’s Pick.” The SCALA skins have garnered media interest with their unique use of a polyurethane tip that helps skis plane to the surface in difficult trail-breaking conditions and prevents snow from creeping under the front of the skin.

“We’re extremely focused on innovating backcountry products for both the extreme adventurer and the everyday athlete,” said Oliver Steffen, founder and owner of G3. “G3 engineers went above and beyond for the 17/18 product lineup to give skiers and riders the tools to travel farther, safer and more reliably in the backcountry.”

Based in Vancouver, B.C., G3 Genuine Guide Gear Inc. manufactures industry-leading gear for backcountry skiing and snowboarding. It has been producing avalanche safety equipment since 1995.
