Fulvio Massini’s New Book To Launch As Part Of Alpe Di Siusi Half Marathon 2018

Now on its sixth edition, the Alpe di Siusi Half Marathon is the highlight and culmination of a whole week of activities organised for both the event’s participants and running enthusiasts. The Alpe di Siusi Training Camp and the 2018 Training Holidays clinics are designed to help athletes improve their pre-event preparation. Entries for the Half Marathon have now reached the 700-participant ceiling imposed by the organisers.

The Alpe di Siusi Half Marathon also provides the venue for the launch of coach Fulvio Massini’s latest running guide, “Tipi che Corrono” (Running types).

There are just a few last details to be finalised before all is ready for the start of this year’s Alpe di Siusi Half Marathon which, for the sixth time, will see athletes competing over a 21-kilometre distance and a 600 metre elevation on Europe’s largest mountain plateau. Taking place in the heart of the Dolomites, the event offers the 700 participants a majestic setting.

FROM THEORY TO PRACTICE

The big date to mark on the calendar is next Sunday, July 1, when all 700 bibs made available will be donned by the entrants before they embark on their race along the roads and trails of Alpe di Siusi. The Half Marathon is both the highlight and culmination of a busy week of events.  June 25, in fact, brings the start of the Alpe di Siusi Training Camp programme – seven days of training and running during which instructors Egon Zuggal and Rudi Brunner will provide participants with advice on preparing for competition and also their approach to the race. Besides, on the agenda, from Wednesday, June 27, to Sunday, July 1, there is also the 2018 Training Holidays. These are sport-focused vacations designed and organised by Fulvio Massini, one of Italy’s best-known and most experienced running coaches. A fantastic experience, organized for runners of all levels, that alternates tests, training and video sessions to help them optimally prepare for the Sunday race.

The Alpe di Siusi Half Marathon also provides the Florence-born Massini with the venue for the launch of his book “Tipi che Corrono” (Running types), a guide, published by Rizzoli to help runners achieve their personal goals. The book features advice and strategies focused on taking the right approach to running embracing everything, from technique to endurance. The launch takes place in the event conference area near the bib distribution point, at 18.00 on Saturday, June 30. There will also be an opportunity for the audience to exchange ideas and impressions with the author.

HALF MARATON 2018 SOLD OUT

Seven hundred bibs were made available for the sixth Alpe di Siusi Half Marathon and 700 athletes will be lining out at the start, as all available bibs have now sold out.

This year’s field will include some familiar faces and winners from past editions, not least German runner Monique Siegel who returns to defend her title after last year’s victory. Also competing is local Bolzano athlete Petra Pircher who triumphed in all the previous editions apart from 2017. In the men’s field, Bolzano man Gianmarco Bazzoni, who was first over the line in the Alpe di Siusi Half Marathon in 2016, has also confirmed that he will be running.
