Four Michelin Stars And A Green Star For Zermatt
The Zermatt – Matterhorn destination is delighted to receive two new Michelin Stars. In total, the Michelin Guide has awarded four restaurants in Zermatt with one star each. For the first time, a restaurant has also received an award for its outstanding approach to sustainability: the Michelin Green Star.
The 2022 Michelin Stars were awarded in Lausanne on October 17 – and Zermatt can celebrate four award-winning restaurants. The newly recognised hosts include the Restaurant Capri in the Hotel Mont Cervin Palace and the Brasserie Uno. The Restaurant Capri impressed inspectors with its classic Italian cuisine and elegant ambience; Brasserie Uno was recognised for its informal atmosphere and seasonal four-course to six-course menus. The conscious use of seasonal and regional products also earned Brasserie Uno the Michelin Green Star. This has been awarded since 2020 and recognises commitment to environmentally friendly and resource-conserving cuisine.
The After Seven restaurant and the Alpine Gourmet Prato Borni were able to retain their stars. With creative menus of four to seven courses and a modern ambience influenced by art, the After Seven was able to impress the Michelin Guide inspectors: “A nice idea: some dishes are finished at the table!” they commented.
With an exceptional wine list and its two “Heimat” (Homeland) and “Fernweh” (Wanderlust) menus, the Alpine Gourmet Prato Borni restaurant at the Grand Hotel Zermatterhof retains its Michelin Star: “The first menu focuses on the region and the second is more international. Chef Heinz Rufibach brings in interesting ideas and skilfully emphasises the flavours of the high-quality products,” the inspectors concluded.
The awards have been celebrated in Zermatt and further confirm its culinary diversity.
