FIS Represented At Olympic Summit & ANOC General Assembly
Last Saturday, 28th October 2017, following the invitation of the International Olympic Committee, the leading representatives of the Olympic Movement met in Lausanne (SUI) for the 6th Olympic Summit. FIS was represented by its President Gian Franco Kasper in his capacity as President of the Association of International Olympic Winter Sports Federations (AIOWF).
The themes addressed at the Olympic Summit were the Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018, the protection of clean athletes including targeted pre-Games testing, the Schmid/Oswald Commissions and the founding of the Independent Testing Authority (ITA), as well as the development of "eSports" and athletes‘ representation.
ANOC General Assembly
The FIS family is well represented in Prague (CZE) this week for the General Assembly of the Association of National Olympic Committees: FIS President Gian Franco Kasper, Vice Presidents Janez Kocijancic who is also Actiing President of the European Olympic Committees, Aki Murasato (JPN) on behalf of Tokyo 2020, Council Members Alfons Hoermann as President of the German NOC and Roman Kumpost, as Czech NOC Vice President and Secretary General Sarah Lewis, also in her capacity as AIOWF Secretary General.
Some 1,300 delegates from nearly all 206 National Olympic Committees are expected to attend the Assembly in the Czech capital. It will be the largest gathering in the history of the ANOC General Assembly and Roman Kumpost is taking a leading role in the event organisation.
The two-day Assembly will hear from many distinguished speakers including IOC President Thomas Bach and focus on updating the NOCs about current topics and the latest progress of the Organising Committees of the upcoming Olympic Games and Youth Olympic Games.
