FIS President Gian Franco Kasper honoured by Hellenic Olympic Committee
FIS President Gian-Franco Kasper was honoured by the Hellenic Olympic Committee on the day of the General Assembly of the FIS Congress
Kasper, a member of the International Olympic Committee Executive Board and the President of the Association of International Olympic Winter Sports Federations, was greeted by HOC President Spyros Capralos.
He was presented with an award to recognise "his longstanding contribution to the Olympic Movement and sport".
Vassilis Katsoras, a member of the HOC Plenary Session, and Hellenic Ski Federation President Dimosthenis Girousis were also in attendance.
New President for Four Hills Tournament
Johann Pichler was named the new president of the Four-Hills-Tournament by the organising committee during their spring meetings in Munich. The 62-year-old is the first representative of the Bischofshofen ski club to chair the Four Hills tournament in its 66-year history. Pichler will succeed Michael Maurer from ski club Partenkirchen.
"It's a special honour for me to be the first from Bischofshofen in this office,” said Pichler, who received the golden eagle, the 4-Hills-Tournament trophy, at the symbolic hand-over from Maurer.
Pichler is highly regarded as a Ski Jumping official. The 62-year-old was a judge and FIS technical delegate at more than 120 competitions. For 18 years he was head of the Bischofshofen ski club and was named the president of the club two years ago.
Pichler is the seventh president of the 4-Hills-Tournament and the third Austrian in this office. The previous presidents were Putzi Pepeunig (Innsbruck, 1952 - 1986), Hans Ostler (Garmisch-Partenkirchen, 1986 - 2003), Dietmar Hemerka (Innsbruck, 2003 - 2006), Claus-Peter Horle (Oberstdorf, 2006 - 2010), Alfons Schranz (Innsbruck, 2010 - 2015) and Michael Maurer (Garmisch-Partenkirchen, 2015 - 2018).
Q&A with Nordic Combined Race Director Lasse Ottesen
After a very productive Nordic Combined Committee meeting in Costa Navarino and big decisions for the Nordic Combined ladies, Race Director Lasse Ottesen looks back on the past and into the future.
The first annual ‘Prix Armando Trovati’ photo contest is officially open.
Named after former Italian photographer Armando Trovati, the contest is open to all accredited photographers who have attended a FIS Alpine World Cup competition during the 2017-18 season. Photographers can enter one picture, which will be judged by a jury.
The jury includes five people and will include: one AIJS representative, one wire agency representative, one FIS representative, one Trovati family member, one magazine photographer representative.
Entries can be submitted by email to: contest@prixarmandotrovati.com.
The winner will be announced prior to the opening of the new FIS World Cup season 2018/2019 and will receive a prize of 1,000 euros, plus a Trophy awarded by FIS. Furthermore, a selection of the best pictures will be printed by AIJS and will be available for viewing at resorts, sponsors locations, photo galleries.
