FIS Joins WADA In Celebrating 'Play True Day'
'Play True Day’ is a day dedicated to clean sport to raise awareness among athletes, the sporting public and others about the global fight against doping. The inspiration for this initiative stems from a WADA-hosted Education Conference in 2013, which was attended by 17 South American countries that were the driving force behind the 10thApril being declared ‘Play True Day’. While it started as a small South American initiative, over the years, this grassroots movement has gained momentum with numerous organisations and countries from across the globe taking part.
In a spirit of solidarity among the anti-doping community, WADA invites all of its stakeholders and others to celebrate ‘Play True Day’ on their digital and social media platforms. A series of branded frames have been created to let everyone join in this important message.
FIS Athletes’ Commission member Virginia de Martin Topranin created a photo using FIS’s Anti-Doping campaign slogan “Clean as Snow” to create awareness for the topic. “It was important to me to be involved in such a nice initiative. I used one of my favourite snowy images from the past winter to illustrate this important message”, de Martin said.
