FIS Development Guidelines Updated: New Programs And Training Initiatives Unveiled

The updated FIS Development Guidelines, now available on the FIS Development Hub, present a modernized version of the previously published guidelines. These updates include enhanced versions of existing programs and the introduction of newly established initiatives, such as the FIS Start and FIS Plus Programs. These programs offer a more structured pathway for aspiring National Ski Associations (NSAs).

Additionally, free training days have been restructured into modernized activities, now known as “FIS Development Program (FDP) Training Camps or Coach Education Courses.” This focused, tailor-made approach aims to equip athletes and coaches with the skills and knowledge necessary to compete at higher levels.

This ensures that the transfer of knowledge meets the required standards. All our FIS Development Coordinators and Coaches have completed the necessary integrity and safeguarding courses to qualify for delivering these development activities. We will continue modernizing our programs, maintaining close communication and collaboration with the International Olympic Committee and the International Paralympic Committee." said Dimitrije Lazarovski, FIS Development Program Director

The transformation of the previous FIS Solidarity programs has led to the creation of two new initiatives. These tailored programs offer specific support as follows:

• FIS Start Program: This introductory program is designed for nations entirely new to winter sports disciplines under the FIS umbrella. It provides basic equipment support, educational resources, and access to introductory coaching clinics.
• FIS Plus Program: Building on the foundation laid by the Start Program, this initiative offers continued equipment support, advanced coaching education, and opportunities to participate in regional competitions.

Streamlined Access to Resources

The revamped development program also simplifies access to resources for NSAs. All development and membership activities can now be accessed through dedicated hubs on the FIS Extranet. This user-friendly platform serves as a one-stop shop for information on:

• Mentoring programs
• Education programs
• Equipment programs
• Membership information
• Investing in the Future

"FIS Development programs are no longer one-size-fits-all. In recent years, the FIS Development Department has recognized the unique environments of each FIS discipline, enabling tailored support for each FIS member’s development activities based on specific needs and requirements. This flexible approach makes development activities accessible to all FIS members. We will continue to assess needs and enhance our programs annually."
