Final FIS Inspection for Nordic Worlds In Planica

With just over 150 days to go until FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2023, the Planica Organising Committee hosted successful Final Inspection meetings as all systems are go for an unforgettable Nordic festival this winter.

After more than five years of detailed preparations, the Final Inspection was a major milestone for all involved stakeholders as the two days were the chance to give Planica 2023, the formal stamp of approval.

Present at the Final Inspection were FIS Technical Officials, a delegation from Rights Holder Infront and a group from Trondheim 2025, attending as part of the Transfer of Knowledge programme. The technical infrastructure was already to a one of the highest standards on the World Cup tours and minor improvements and innovations have ensured only the best facilities await the world’s top Nordic athletes.

Aside from the technical facilities, the Opening Ceremony and Medal ceremony programme was also finalized as a ski festival awaits the tens of thousands of fans expected to travel to Slovenia for the two weeks of action. In connection to the ski festival, the Planica 2023 team also used the opportunity of the Final Inspection to formally launch the ticket sales for the FIS Nordic World Ski Championship.

Only a few races on the programme are awaiting the final confirmation, but certain is the inclusion of a Nordic Combined Mixed Team Event on the 2023 programme. It is expected that after the FIS Technical Meetings next week that the final start times and programme will be confirmed.
