Engelberg Municipality Supports Titlis And Brunni Cable Cars For Sustainable Mobility

The municipal council decided to begin developing and implementing measures to improve traffic management in the Engelberg Valley in accordance with the overall transport concept adopted by the cantons of Obwalden and Nidwalden. In the meantime, the various modules planned for Engelberg have been intensively developed. Several measures have been implemented or are in the planning stage.
One measure concerns increasing the attractiveness of public transport. As part of this measure, the Titlis Bergbahnen invested CHF 253,407.00 in the "Snow'n'Rail" service during the 2023/24 winter season. This was used by 13,527 guests. The Brunnibahnen invested CHF 6,361.00 in a winter hiking package.
The municipal council greatly appreciates the commitment of both railway companies to mobility management. It is prepared to support the efforts already made with public contributions amounting to CHF 70,000. This, however, is subject to the condition that the railway companies continue to operate the service in the coming years and that the municipal contribution in the future does not exceed 30% of the uncovered additional costs. This contribution, in turn, is capped at CHF 30,000.
