Join Mark Watson, Ellis Brigham’s Ski Training Manager as he chats with three individuals shaping the world of freestyle and freeski in the UK: Olympian and World Champs freestyle skier Katie Summerhayes, 2018 Olympian and Pro freeskier Tyler Harding (both of whom are working towards the Winter Olympics in 2022), and GB Head Coach Pat Sharples.
In conversation with Brigham's very own former sponsored freeskier, and now Ski Department Training Manager, Mark Watson will be; GB Snowsports Head Coach Pat Sharples, Ellis Brigham ambassador, 2 times Olympian and World Championship freestyle skier Katie Summerhayes plus 2018 Olympian and Pro freeskier Tyler Harding.
They’ll be talking about how freesking has seen massive growth in the UK in recent years and how GB Snowsports is working with talented young skiers to develop them and what drives them to compete on the world stage.
KATIE SUMMERHAYES
Katie is a 25 year old Ellis Brigham and Salomon sponsored British Freestyle Skier from Sheffield who competed at the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic Games, coming 7th in the final for Team GB.
In 2015, Katie became the first British female competitor to win a medal at the World Championships in freestyle skiing. Katie took a silver in the slopestyle event at the Freestyle Ski and Snowboarding World Championships in Kreischberg.
She's a 3 x World cup medalist, world Junior champion 2014 and currently working towards the Winter Olympics in Beijing 2022.
PAT SHARPLES
Hailing from Bradford, Salomon sponsored (since 1997) and Team GB Snowsport Head Coach, Pat Sharples, has been recognised as the leading light in the elite training of British Freeski athletes.
Pat first set up Freeski Training Camps along with Warren Smith over 15 years ago when freeskiing was just taking off, he also founded the hugely successful Salomon Grom Camps in the UK and Ireland.
TYLER HARDING
Tyler is a professional Freeskier from Halifax, England. He started to ski when he was around 4 years old and got sponsored by Salomon aged 9. He then went on to compete on the World Freeski Circuit at the age of 14, now aged 24 Tyler is a rising star within the British Park & Pipe Squad.
Tyler has been a World cup competitor every year since 2012, an Olympian at the 2018 Winter Games, 2 x World cup finalist 2020 and is now working towards the Winter Olympics in Beijing 2022.
