Elan Invests In W Studio Across Entire Women’s Ski Collection For 2020/2021

Elan, handcrafted skis 100% made in the Alps for 75 years, celebrates over 16 years of the W Studio with an entirely new women’s collection across all segments of the market, allowing many more female skiers to get the best out of skiing every day on the mountain.

The 2020/2021 ski collection is a direct reflection of the W Studio’s hard work to drive innovation and design product to get the most out of the equipment; ultimately empowering female skiers to get the most out of their days on the hill. With this philosophy and mindset, Elan is proud to release three, all-new series of skis: Insomnia, Wildcat and Ripstick W. Each ski is specifically engineered to fulfill the needs of all skiing experiences from beginner to expert to on-piste to big mountain.

“Elan’s genuine commitment to engaging more women in the sport of skiing is widely invested across our line and through the W Studio community,” says Global Product Director, Melanja Korošec. “The W Studio goes beyond product development; it is a movement to represent the “WE” – not you, not me- but “WE!” Inspiring more women in the sport and revel in the good times skiing provides together.”

The W Studio celebrates 16 years with the new “WE Rule” campaign, engaging a community of all women from mothers to sisters to friends and partners to bring together laughter and energy in the mountains regardless of your skiing ability.

Welcome to the new Wildcat, a ski collection designed for the best of both worlds to optimize and enhance the energy and performance of the female skier in any condition or terrain.

As the closest bridge to the Ripstick W collection, the Wildcat is the very first women’s all-mountain collection with Amphibio Truline W Technology, the most advanced asymmetrical ski design for women approved by Elan’s W Studio for the new Wildcat series.

Designed by women, the Wildcat takes on new territory with a modern approach to all-mountain skiing by fusing award-winning technologies with finely selected materials. The slightly wider wood core chassis’ integrate carbon reinforcements, in the form of rods and inlays, for lightweight skis that maintain excellent strength and stability for efficient energy transfer and perfection in every turn for the female skier.

“The W Studio developed the Wildcat with you in mind, to maximize your good times shared on the mountain together,” says Global Product Director, Melanja Korošec. “They are the companions you want on a powder day or a groomer day, built to enhance the energy you bring.”

The Wildcat is comprised of four skis with three different waist width and varying materials, such as “CX” stands for carbon rods from the tip to tail. New for 2020/2021 collection is the Wildcat 86CX, 82CX, 82C and 76. All offered a system or flat ski.

As the widest ski in the series, the Wildcat 86 CX is the best of both worlds, ready to take on the soft, deeper snow on the backside of the mountain, or take on groomers with speed and stability.

Gleich will be involved with the product development of Elan’s women’s skis and Elan’s “WE Rule” campaign engaging a community of all female skiers from mothers to sisters to friends and partners, regardless of their skiing ability.

“I am so excited to be partnering with Elan because they are one of the longest standing ski brands in the world and because of their commitment to progression in design. They are the last company to fully produce skis in the Alps. Their headquarters in Slovenia, against the backdrop of the Julian Alps, is one of the most beautiful places in the world and is an inspiring backdrop for ski creation and innovation,” says Gleich. “Elan has consistently made business decisions that have allowed them to be in the market for over 70 years. I’m excited about bringing my decade and a half of experience in the snowsports industry to the table to see what we can create and what mountains we can climb and ski together.”

Additionally, Gleich’s climate change activism aligns with Elan’s long term goal to lessen the company’s environmental footprint. Most recently, Elan is one of the first ski manufacturers to develop an inhouse solution to transition from screen printing to digital printing, reducing emissions and the amount of water used to print the skis’ top sheets. Elan is always looking for new solutions to reduce their impact.

“Caroline is an amazing athlete and a truly inspiring leader who is all about authenticity,” said Klarisa Veselič, Elan’s W Studio manager. “Her tenacity for adventure and activism aligns with the Elan on so many levels and we are excited to have the opportunity to have her on our team.”
