Ecoalf X Michelin X Cordura Launches, Made For Maximum Resistance
The Gredos boots and Abantos sneakers are made with recycled and low- impact materials for unisex footwear that lends itself perfectly to day-to-day wear adapting to any environment, from the city to hiking trails, thanks to the grip, versatility and flexibility that have come to define Ecoalf ’ s footwear collections.
Where aesthetics are concerned, Michelin drew design inspiration for the soles from the sculptural forms of its MICHELIN Pilot Sport automotive tires. Ecoalf and Michelin have jointly developed a shoe sole made from the rubber “wasted” in mainstream sole production. The two set out to strike the best balance between eco-friendly manufacturing and a high-performing product. The process of incorporating recovered rubber * cuts down on the amount of raw materials used, produces no waste and improves manufacturing efficiency by not only reducing the number of steps, but also CO2 emissions and water consumption.

At Ecoalf, sustainability, innovation, and quality are a must as a sign of durability and responsibility. These two models incorporate CORDURA 100% recycled polyester fabric made from recycled plastic bottles.
It is strong, versatile and reliable, one of the most-resistant fabrics on the market merged with a recycled polyester membrane for waterproof properties to protect both you and the planet. Long-lasting means that they do not need to be replaced often: wasting less and getting more from what you wear. The shoe laces are also 100% recycled polyester and the midsoles are made with sugar cane. EV A, a synthetic material that is used in many shoe models, is typically produced from fossil fuels, such as oil or gas.
Both the Gredos and Abantos midsoles incorporate Brazilian sugarcane , a renewable, natural material that offers flexibility, lightness, and resistance. Incorporating it not only reduces CO2 emissions compared to conventional EVA, it actually removes greenhouse gasses from the atmosphere as it grows, giving it a carbon negative footprint. Each of our choices have an impact, so it is important to feel good about what we buy and invest in quality pieces. These models are built to last , integrating the highest-quality recycled materials to reduce your footprint with every step.
Ecoalf was born in 2009 , both the name and concept of the brand came after the birth of Javier Goyenche’s (Founder and President) two sons: Alfredo and Alvaro. He wanted to create a truly sustainable fashion brand and believed the most sustainable thing to do was to stop using natural resources in a careless way to ensure those of the next generation.
Since then, Ecoalf’s mission has been to make a new generation of recycled products with the same quality and design as the best non-recycled. For the past 10 years, Ecoalf has become synonymous with its claim BECAUSE THERE IS NO PLANET B® and developed more than 500 recycled fabrics recycling over 250 million plastic bottles, 80 tonnes of discarded fishing nets, used tires, thousands of tonnes of post-industrial cotton and wool... saving over 12 billion liters of water with their Fall-Winter 2022 collection.
In 2015, through the Ecoalf Foundation, Ecoalf started Upcycling the Oceans . Born off the coast of Spain, it is a worldwide adventure that is helping to remove marine debris from the bottom of the oceans thanks to the collective effort of more than 4,000 fishermen having recovered more than 1,000 tonnes of waste .
A revolutionary project that has expanded to Thailand, Greece, Italy, France... and continues to expand throughout the Mediterranean Sea, converting ocean waste into high-quality garments. Since 2018, Ecoalf has been a proud member of the B-Corp community: businesses that meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance. Its environmental standards has earned Ecoalf B Corp’s “Best for the World” recognition in July of 2022. This positions Ecoalf in the top 5% of the 5,000 B Corps across the globe
