Doppelmaryr/Garaventa Modernizes Aerial Tramway On The Jakobshorn
Last year, Garaventa carried out a complete overhaul of the reversible aerial tramway JschalpJakobshorn in Davos. The popular tramway impresses with a new cabin design and a modern upper terminal.
The aerial tramway that runs between the Jschalp and the Jakobshorn summit in the Davos ski area has been operating since 1958, providing 65 years of service. In summer and winter, the tramway enables guests to enjoy a range of activities on the Jakobshorn, such as mountain biking, hiking and skiing. The installation underwent its first rebuild in 1983. Almost 40 years later, the popular tramway has now been given a further technical and visual upgrade.
Consistent design concept
The old carrier has been replaced by a new Kronos cabin, made by cabin manufacturer CWA. This means the second section of the tramway now shines in the same upbeat red-and-black design as the first section, Davos-Jschalp.
Barrier-free & modern
The most striking visual change, apart from the cabins, is the modernization of the upper terminal. The futuristic design of the exit offers a unique guest experience. In addition, the operating company Davos Bergbahnen has optimized barrier-free access on the mountain. As part of the technical upgrade, the entire drive control system and the main motor were replaced.
