New England based luxury alpine sportswear label Alps & Meters has hired United States Ski Hall-of-Famer, pioneer of extreme skiing, and original Warren Miller Film athlete, Dan Egan, as Chief Tradition Officer. Inducted into the United States Ski Hall of Fame in 2016, Egan’s worldview and contribution to the sport of skiing qualify him uniquely to further develop the cultural, storytelling, and partnership facets of Alps & Meters’ traditional alpine sportswear company. As an immediate dimension of Egan’s newfound leadership role, he will co-produce and host Alps & Meters’ new “Designed By Tradition” podcast which will engage a variety of topics and noteworthy guests closely connected to the timeless sport and atmosphere of skiing.
“Alps & Meters and our Board of Directors are thrilled to welcome Dan to our luxury sportswear brand in the newly created role of Chief Tradition Officer,” says Founder/CEO, Louis Joseph, former Global Director of Strategy & Innovation at PUMA/Kering. “With a purpose focused upon furthering the long standing traditions of alpine sport, Dan’s pedigree and passion make him ideally suited to spearhead and enhance Alps & Meters’ classic cultural values and respect for skiing’s past while helping to contribute to the sport’s future. Beginning with the co-production and hosting of the brand’s first podcast series, it is my hope that Dan’s role as Chief Tradition Officer will influence every corner of our brand and business such that his pure love of alpine sport might continue to amplify our values-in-action, whether manifested in community-driven content, product, events, or ongoing internal and external relationship development. I grew up watching Dan pioneer the sport of extreme skiing along with other Warren Miller athletes and because he is a skiing hero of mine, I’m doubly-excited to now call him a partner on the Alps & Meters journey.
“Raised on New England mountains, I value the authenticity and tradition of Alps and Meters,” says Dan Egan. “The brand’s vintage style mirrors the luxury and class of Europe’s alpine villages but channels the designs of the classic New England ski culture I grew up with.
