Dan Healy Returns To Sierra-at-Tahoe As Vice President And General Manager
Sierra-at-Tahoe announced today that Dan Healy has been appointed as the resort’s new Vice President and General Manager. Formerly serving as Sierra-at-Tahoe’s Director of Snowsports, Healy has nearly 30 years of experience in the ski industry, most recently holding the position of Vice President of Recreational Services at Solitude Mountain Resort. He succeeds long-time Sierra General Manager John Rice, who was recently named President of Ski California.
“Dan’s proven track record of putting people first, team building and his focus on the guest experience will be instrumental in Sierra’s continued success and growth,” said John Rice, current Sierra-at-Tahoe Vice President and General Manager. “I’m confident he’s the right person to continue driving the values and commitments that have made Sierra-at-Tahoe the local’s favorite ski resort.”
As Vice President and General Manager of Sierra-at-Tahoe, Healy will oversee all resort operations. He will also be responsible for cultivating and maintaining strong relationships in the South Lake Tahoe community and with government agencies, legislators, and industry partners while ensuring that Sierra-at-Tahoe continues to offer high-quality experiences to its guests, employees and broader community.
Throughout his career, Healy has managed all aspects of ski and snowboard school programs at well-known resorts including Beaver Creek, Crested Butte, Sugar Bowl and Sierra-at-Tahoe. He has built high-performing snowsports management teams, mentored their long-term career goals, and grown new resort snowsports programs to adapt to changing customer needs and increase revenue.
At Solitude, Healy was responsible for a broader range of resort operations including the ski and snowboard school, retail and rental operations, guest services, ticketing and sales operations, kids’ year-round programs, bike lessons, and adventure park activities. During his tenure, he successfully navigated staffing challenges, spearheaded technology system upgrades to capitalize on economies of scale and cross-department operational efficiencies, and developed opportunities to increase inclusion of under-represented groups in snowsports.
“Returning to Sierra-at-Tahoe as its next General Manager is truly the opportunity of a lifetime,” said Healy. “I’m honored to lead the team as we continue to drive the business forward and deliver experiences that lend themselves to Sierra’s distinct culture and vibe. Sierra-at-Tahoe is already a phenomenal resort and I look forward to working with the team to ensure it continues to grow and thrive while remaining true to our mission and values.”
Healy will assume his new role at Sierra-at-Tahoe in early January 2025.
