CT Scuderia Launches Classic Sport Watch Collection
Time moves fast in caféracer culture. It’swhatkeeps the spiritalive. Secondsshaved off friends and adversaries’ timesasmotorbikes sprint through the city streetsat night. Preciousmoments to study the latestdetails, the onesthatmake the difference, beforeturning on the engine and getting out on the street. Hours spent in the garage, far from theconfusion and clichés, to produce jewels made out of steel and aluminium.
Time, speed, elegance and a love of mechanics are the dimensionsinhabited by CT Scuderia, the brand established in 2013 by expertItalianwatchmaker Enrico Margaritelli. The ContaTempo Scuderia aesthetic combines determination and sportiness with classicstyling and the superiorquality of Italian design. Like a truecompetitionmotorbike, nothingisleftto chance. And everythingissubservient to time.
CT Scuderia wristwatches are handmade in Switzerland. The dialisinspired by the minimalist graphic design sported by caféracer revcounters from the fifties and sixties. Protected by sapphire crystalglass, the indexes shine bright with the maximum visibilityoffered by the LumiBrightsystem. The utmost care is lavished on the choice of materials, the mechanical engineering, and the beauty of the high qualityleatherstrap with its stunning stitching in double cotton thread. The leathers are the same as those used by Italian luxury shoe and carmakers.
The shape, the design and the decision to fasten the three-piecesteel case with 12 screws like classic motor cycle crank cases, or the taste for fine finishings revealed by the carbon fiber on the dial and the unprecedented fusion effect featured on the case: everything in a CT Scuderia wristwatchisinspired by caféracer culture and Italian elegance.
The aesthetic embodied by ContaTempo Scuderia expresses the same inimitable style of the traditional stopwatch, with the winder and button sat 12 o’clock. More than a mere detail, itmeans the watches can also be handheld and wornaround the necklike a stopwatch when not on your wrist. But then again, what would a collectio ninspired by cafér acers be with out models featuring a winder at 3 or 6 o’clock, because they are what define the special spirit of CT Scuderia.
The best way to understand the fast-movingspirit of CT Scuderia watches is through a closer acquaintance with their creator, Enrico Margaritelli. Influenced by the motor bike lifestyle since he was a boy, the founder of CT Scuderia is the third generation to carry on his family’s watchmaking tradition. He created his first brand when he was just 21, before going on to launch the Fossil brand worldwide. Then, in 2013, Margaritelli invested hisdeep-seated passion for watchmaking and fascination with caféracers in ContaTempo Scuderia.
The taste and aesthetics expressed by a CT Scuderia timepiece are fine-tuned both for a lifestyle that is smuch more ingrained that a simple trend, as wellas for the modern gentleman whohas a heartfelt passion for everything in life that represents quality, dynamism and the sharing of authentic masculine styling.
For example the CT Scuderia Dashboard collection offers its own take on café racers and the racing heritage aesthetic defined by the golden age of motorsports. The masters of style who challenged each other on race tracks in the 1950s and ‘60s are brought back to life by this iconic timepiece inspired by the graphic design of rev counters and speedometers on sports cars and motorbikes.
The Bullet Head is inspired by the fast and furious years, when it was the rider or driver and the classic precision of analogue instruments that made the difference. Exactly like the speedometers on vintage dashboards, the black dial has a contrasting double number scale. The outer scale features the words “miles per hour”, in a heartfelt tribute to ‘Made in Britain’ café racers. Rather than measuring speed, the inner scale marks off the 60 minutes in each hour using red numbers, the colour of the legendary overspeed zone on rev counters. The sapphire crystal protects the instrument with elegance and strength far superior to the glass used for the original speedometers.
The LANDERON DP 18 automatic see-through movement drives three high visibility hands, while the thin seconds hand is embellished with a red CT Scuderia logo. Like a special-edition motorbike, the Bullet Head stands out for the button and winder, at 6 o’clock, both black and with interchangeable screws. The Bullet Head’s three-piece case is joined together using a total of 12 screws and made from steel, the same material used for tubular frames. It is 44 mm in diameter, 14 mm thick and water resistant to 10 ATM - 100 meters.
An authentic touch of class is the handmade lightened leather strap: as precious as a vintage racing glove, it is made with the same materials as those used by Italian master shoemakers. The quick release system means it can be replaced in seconds with the metal bracelets and silicone bands.
“Made like a weapon, fast as a bullet” ran the advertising slogan of a glorious English motorbike brand. Bullet Head in the Dashboard collection embraces this spirit for the new gentlemen representatives of café racer culture. A generation of aesthetes who love to keep their jewel of mechanical engineering on the living room carpet rather than in the garage, to be able to capture all its beauty with a glance.
