Crans-Montana To Host New Look City Ski Challenge In February 2024
Formally the City Ski Championships, organisers Momentum have created the new City Ski Championships to encourage a more diverse experience for all levels of skier.
Located in the Swiss resort of Crans-Montana for the third year running, the event will continue to hold its giant slalom race on the World Cup track, but new categories for novice skiers have been introduced. Away from the racing, there’s also a chance for participants to experience introduction to ski touring, snowshoeing, dog sledding, curling and ski race instruction from top coaches.
The live show REVIVAL that takes soul classics re-recoded at Abbey Road Studios, will take to the stage in Crans-Montana’s high altitude on snow nightclub at Cry d’Er, rounding up a weekend of skiing, networking, partying and laughter with popular British comedian, Marcus Brigstocke.
Other celebrities and former Olympic skiers such as Damon Hill, Marcus Wareing, Frank Gardner, Graham Bell, Konrad Bartelski and Eddie the Eagle amongst others, often attend the event annually.
Managing Director of Momentum, Amin Momen, said: “After 23 years, to ensure the event’s continued success and further growth, it is evolving to remain salient to its existing participants, as well as attractive to a broader cohort of potential participants. In essence, the event has become more inclusive, fun, challenge orientated with great skiing that facilitates connections continuing to be the established premier networking event of the winter sporting calendar for the UK’s business community”.
Pierre-Henri Mainetti from Crans-Montana Tourism said: “Crans-Montana continues to be the chosen resort for this fantastic event and we are very pleased to be able to provide the kind of facilities needed to make this a really special weekend. The fact Crans-Montana is easy to reach from Geneva helps, but it’s also the world class hotels, restaurants and of course ski slopes that all add up to provide the very best platform for the most important winter sports event for the UK’s business community. We look forward once again to welcoming back some friends, old and new”.

Crans-Montana is a chic and stylish all-year-round mountain resort located in the Valais canton of Switzerland (French speaking), around two hours by train from Geneva Airport.. The resort is part of the Best of the Alps group (bestofthealps.com)
Sitting on a high plateau above the Rhone Valley and facing south, the views from Crans-Montana are spectacular, especially from higher altitudes where it’s possible to see Mont Blanc in the west, through to the Matterhorn and way beyond to the east. During the winter, the skiing is well suited for intermediates, with a wide range of blue and red runs, but there’s excellent beginners areas as well as some more challenging slopes for experts, including some interesting off-piste and ski touring terrain. During summer, the resort is a haven for both road cyclists and mountain bikers as well as hikers and adventure seekers. Accommodation is varied, with a strong luxury element including several 5* hotels and a spread of 3* and 4* options as well as self-catering apartments and B&B’s.
