Crans Montana Promotes Itself As Candidate For The FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2027

It is with some emotion that the Crans Montana Organizing Committee is sharing the key points of their bid as a candidate for the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2027. The whole of Switzerland is hoping to have the opportunity to organise such a major event, which would allow the entire population to celebrate the champions. Forty years after the legendary 1987 World Championships, Crans-Montana is ready to reverberate once again with the buzz of such an adventure.

The enthusiasm of the public and athletes for the various competitions organised in Crans-Montana is proof that holding the FIS World Ski Championships in Valais would offer an extraordinary showcase for alpine skiing

The foundation of Crans Montana's bid is based on several essential elements:

  • A common vision for the resort, the canton and the country to promote the dynamic image of Crans-Montana all over the world, and to promote winter sports amongst young people.
  • A legacy for the entire population, with the central element of the project being an emphasis on promoting sustainable development.
  • Strengthening the current infrastructure, and the acceleration of new sustainable projects, such as the installation of new hotels, construction of an ultra-modern and multi-functional finish stadium, and the redevelopment of legendary pistes designed to welcome the very best skiers in the world.
  • The event in a country that is at the heart of the ski industry will generate an improved economy, increased sales and the development of new markets.
  • Writing a new page in the history of alpine skiing in Crans-Montana with a view to the future, thanks to events organised throughout the year.
  • A huge festival of skiing, thanks to the resort’s experience, and the enthusiasm of the population.

With its sights set on potentially hosting the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships, Crans-Montana is determined to revitalise an entire district by building first-class sports, hotel and administrative facilities. Two legendary pistes, the Nationale and Mont Lachaux, designed to meet the highest international standards and requirements, finish in this ultra-modern area.

Thanks to the support of the Swiss Confederation, Swiss-Ski, the Canton of Valais, the municipalities concerned as well as the ski lift company and all other parties involved, optimal operational organisation for the event is already guaranteed.
