Courchevel To Be Finish Of 17th Stage Of Tour De France 2023
After the Alpine Skiing World Championships this winter, Courchevel will once again be at the forefront of the international sporting scene this summer as the finish city of the 17th stage of the 2023 Tour de France, announced as the queen stage of this 2023 edition. After 18 years of absence, the town of Courchevel is back in love with the Tour de France.
On Wednesday, July 19, 2023, the contenders for the yellow jersey will explain themselves between Saint-Gervais and Courchevel during a 166 km mountain stage that will sign the end of the alpine hostilities where the riders will have been severely tested.
In the last third of this stage, the riders will cross Courchevel, from Vignotan, passing through La Perrière, Le Carrey, Saint-Bon, Courchevel Le Praz and Courchevel La Tania before climbing the dreaded and emblematic Col de la Loze, the "roof" of this Tour de France 2023 and its 28.4 km at 6%.
The race will not stop there, because once they reach the 2,304 m of the pass, the riders will start a 6.4 km descent as dizzying as technical, to switch to Courchevel 1850. A few more pedal strokes will be necessary to battle on the altiport's 18% gradient track and finally cross the finish line. A spectacular and unique finish, worthy of the stage's difference in altitude
"I am very proud of Courchevel's worldwide sporting reputation. This is an opportunity for us to show our know-how in organizing international events. After the World Ski Championships, it is an honor to host the Tour de France. We know how much this event is awaited by the French. We hope that the cyclists will appreciate the beauty of our landscapes and the quality of the route " said Mayor of Coruchevel, Jean-Yves Pachod
