Courchevel Sets Out Sporting And Social Commitments At The Tour De France

Courchevel and the Tour de France share common values when it comes to sporting and social commitments. So, in addition to the 17th stage of the Tour de France, which will finish in Courchevel, the town will also be hosting the 9th “Donnons des ELLES au vélo J-1” event and, together with Ecosystem, will be organizing a collection of old mobile phones. A cyclo sportive, following the last 35 kilometres of the 17th stage, will also take place two days before the riders arrive in Courchevel.

L'Ascension du Tour - July 17th 2023
Wednesday July 19th marks the great return of the Tour de France to Courchevel after 18 years. Courchevel is the finish town for the 17th stage of the Tour de France 2023. The Col de la Loze, already confirmed as the “Queen stage” of the 2023 race, is sure to make an impact on the riders with some sections featuring gradients of over 20%; the stage finishes at the Altiport, requiring a final effort up an 18% incline.

Following in the footsteps of the Étape du Tour de France, the Ascension du Tour, will take place on Monday July 17th, 2 days before the official arrival of the “Grande Boucle” in Courchevel. It is a unique opportunity to tackle the Col de la Loze, an “Hors Categorie” graded mountain pass, on the same roads and in almost identical conditions to those experienced by the professional Tour de France cyclists. This ascent, which covers the last 35 km of the 17th stage, starting out from Brides-Les-Bains and ending at the Courchevel Michel Ziegler Altiport, will be a first!

The ambassador for this first Ascension du Tour event will be none other than cycling legend and France TV commentator: Laurent Jalabert!

Prices:

  • €35 for members of the French Cycling Federation
  • €40 for non-members

Charity collection of mobile phones to help disadvantaged individuals

Ecosystem has been a Tour de France partner for some years now and organizes a charity collection of mobile phones every year. Courchevel will be part of this initiative and between July 5th and July 10th 2023 will be setting up various collection points for residents and visitors. Members of the public will be able to drop off their old mobile phones at these points. All types of mobiles are accepted, including broken phones. Any personal data that is still stored on the device will, of course, be deleted. All telephones collected will be recycled.

Donating your unwanted phone is a simple, civic-minded act that allows you to dispose of an obsolete object while helping the planet!

So, do you want to donate your phone?

Nothing could be simpler! You just need to go to a collection point and deposit your mobile (removing case and SIM card) in the designated container.

Collection points in Courchevel:

  • Saint-Bon Town Hall
  • La Perrière Town Hall Extension
  • Courchevel – Courchevel Le Praz media library
  • Courchevel La Tania* Tourist Office
  • Courchevel Moriond* Tourist Office
  • Courchevel 1850* Tourist Office
  • Le Forum-Courchevel 1850*

Donnons des ELLES au vélo J-1

Donnons des ELLES au vélo J-1 is a non-profit, community project. The project, which was set up in 2015, involves an amateur cycling team of around 10 women, who complete the entire 21 stages of the Tour de France, one day ahead of the official race.

35 men and 35 women can register free of charge to join the riders on each stage of the route. So, on July 18th 2023, the Donnons des ELLES au vélo J-1 peloton will cross the finish line of the 17th stage of the Tour de France at the Courchevel Michel Ziegler Altiport.

The Donnons des ELLES au vélo J-1 initiative was set up and is supported by the predominantly female, Essonne-based, Donnons des elles au vélo - Evry Courcouronnes cycling club, and aims to promote and develop female cycling in France.
