Courchevel’s Ski Jumping World Cup Takes Off On 6th & 7th August
Every year, for 31 years, Courchevel’s Olympic ski jumps have been hosting the only French round of the Ski Jumping World Cup. More than just a competition, the Courchevel stage has truly gained star billing since its creation back in 1991.
Ever since the first edition, the Courchevel World Cup has drawn the sport’s world elite and its champions board is the ultimate hall of fame of the very best jumpers over the past three decades. Among the names are such Olympic greats as Japan’s Masahiko Harada, the Swiss Simon Amman, the Austrian Thomas Morgenstern or Poland’s Kamil Stoch, who currently holds the ski jumping record with a jump of 137m. As for the women, Japanese prodigy Sara Takanashi has already excelled four times on the Courchevel site, while the Beijing 2022 Olympic champion, Slovenia’s Ursa Bogataj, broke into the top rankings for the first time last summer.
The other highlight of this weekend is a unique mountain airshow, with the sensational return of the French Air and Space Force’s Rafale Solo Display and the presence over both days of the F-86 SABRE, the US Air Force’s iconic jet fighter during the Korean War.
If you’re looking to aim “even higher”, in addition to the Ski Jumping World Cup, why not experience your first flight in an aircraft with Alpine Airlines or in an aerobatic aircraft with Adrenalin Flights, at Courchevel’s Altiport?
