Corinne Suter Grabs Double Gold At Swiss National Championships

The BRACK.CH Swiss National Championships were held in Stoos and Hoch-Ybrig one week after the World Cup Finals to mark the end of the winter. Local favorite Corinne Suter carried her positive momentum from a career-best World Cup and World Championships season to claim the national titles in both downhill and super-G with solid runs over Priska Nufer. She repeated her speed sweep from 2017 and picked up the fourth and fifth Swiss Championships gold medals of her career.

On the men's speed side, Urs Kryenbuehl capitalized on two solid downhill training runs to claim his second national title and first since taking the downhill win in 2014 at Fiescheralp (SUI), besting Gino Caviezel by 0.14 seconds this go-around. World Cup regular Gilles Roulin had a runaway victory in the super-G after distancing himself from the field by 0.84 seconds. 

Technical titles at Hoch-Ybrig went to Cedric Noger, who had a career-best World Cup finish in fourth at Kranjska Gora earlier this winter,  and Camille Rast in the giant slalom. The win was bittersweet for Rast who crashed in the slalom race one day later. The 19-year-old sustained a torn ACL in her right knee and will face the road to recovery heading in the 2019/20 season. 

In the slalom, Wendy Holdener added to her national title collection with her 10th Swiss championships victory. Loïc Meillard, meanwhile, claimed his third national title but first ever in slalom after besting Ramon Zenhaeusern by a slim 0.08-second margin of victory. Sandro Simonet and Priska Nufer also left Stoos with Swiss titles of their own after winning their respective alpine combined races.
