CoralTree Hospitality Expands With Addition Of Hotel Columbia In Telluride

Tom Luersen, president of CoralTree Hospitality, announces that the company is expanding its collection of hotels and resorts in Colorado with the addition of Hotel Columbia in Telluride. The company currently manages three properties in Colorado including Magnolia Hotel Denver, The Eddy Taproom & Hotel in Golden and The Hotel at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, which is scheduled to open in 2024.

The 21-room Hotel Columbia sits in the heart of downtown Telluride. The hotel is conveniently located adjacent to the free gondola that provides access to Mountain Village and the ski resort. The property offers several room configurations including 13 suites, a selection of penthouse suites and two hot tubs. The hotel offers on-site ski storage for guests with boot dryers.

Hotel Columbia is also home to COSMOpolitan, which has been rated as the No. 1 restaurant in Telluride. Chef Chad Scothorn has been praised by media outlets such as the New York TimesEsquire and Bon Appetit for his creative approach to food. The restaurant is listed in the Zagat guide and has earned the Wine Spectator “Award of Excellence” every year since 1998.

“We are honored to have been selected to manage Hotel Columbia,” said Luersen. “Our company’s roots go back to the development and management of The Gant in Aspen and, since then, we’ve managed several properties at seasonal mountain resorts. Telluride is a great destination for skiing and snowboarding in the winter and summers provide endless opportunities for adventure.” The leadership team at CoralTree previously managed two other properties in the area including Mountain Lodge at Telluride and The Hotel Telluride.

Telluride is an historic mining town located in southwest Colorado in the heart of the picturesque San Juan Mountains. According to the editors at Travel + Leisure magazine, “Telluride may just be the most idyllic ski town in North America.” Hotel Columbia’s location is walking distance to shopping, galleries and restaurants downtown. In the winter, guests at the hotel will have convenient access to more than 2,000 acres of ski and snowboard terrain. When the snow melts, the region reawakens in summer offering unlimited activities such as fly fishing, mountain biking and hiking. Telluride also is known for its summer festivals including the Mountainfilm documentary festival, Telluride Food & Wine and the popular Telluride Bluegrass Festival.
