City Of Bonn Continuing To Work On Planning For Cable Car

The federal city of Bonn is continuing to work on its planning for the cable car between the Bonn University Hospital on the Venusberg and the planned DB stop on the S13 in Beuel-Ramersdorf: The city administration is currently making fine adjustments to the route and is coordinating these with those affected. At the same time, various commissioned reports are in progress.

One of these reports is a preliminary geological report. This requires investigations of the subsoil, i.e. the soil, along the planned cable car route in the coming weeks and months. Drilling will be carried out, so there will be isolated restrictions in the area.

Subsoil investigations will take place in the following areas:

  • Venus mountain slope.  Yhe forest path will be temporarily closed from the Bergstrasse junction to the south. The work takes up to a week.
  • Shooters Mountain Trail. From Wednesday, February 21, 2024, in the area of ​​the Schießbergweg stop in Ramerdorf (Beuel district). As a result of this work, the Mehlbergweg will be closed near the Schießbergweg junction. This work is also expected to take a week.
  • Rheinaue In the months of March and April in both the left and right bank of the Rhine. There may be isolated restrictions on the use of park paths. As soon as the work is scheduled, the city administration will inform the public.

Background

The cable car in Bonn - from Venusberg on the left bank of the Rhine across the Rhine to Beuel on the right bank of the Rhine - would be the first urban cable car in Germany to be integrated into local public transport and that can be used with a normal local transport ticket such as the Deutschlandticket.
