Christopher Del Bosco Returns To US Flag

After competing under the Canadian flag for 15 years, three-time Olympian and World Champion Christopher Del Bosco had switched his race suit and will start under the U.S. flag as of this season.

Del Bosco, born and raised in Colorado, USA started his career as an alpine skier for the U.S. National Team.

In 2007 after a turbulent period with the Americans the Canadians recruited Del Bosco, who’s father was Canadian, to the well-funded Canadian Ski Cross Team which set its sights on a gold medal at its home Olympic Games in Vancouver in 2010.

After a crash as he tried to push from 3rd to 1st in the big final in Vancouver Del Bosco ended up in an unfortunate fourth place at his first Olympics. However, his all-or-nothing mentality captured his nations imagination and set a standard for the Canadian team which has resulted in many more successes since.

The biggest title of his career for sure was the gold medal of the Ski Cross World Championships in Deer Valley, USA in 2011. He finishes his outstanding career for Team Canada with 26 World Cup podiums, including ten victories. This makes him the most experienced active ski cross athlete in the World Cup circuit.

After the last Olympic winter season he applied for a nation change, which got accepted by FIS, Canada and USA in May 2022. Besides the fact that he always wanted to finish his career under the U.S, flag, his goal is now to bring awareness and notoriety to the US Ski Cross Team.

“My plan all along was to finish off my career racing for my home country. But, more importantly, over the last 15 years, I have watched so many missed opportunities for US ski cross racers. These guys are trying to do it all on their own, and I am ready to step in and lead the way to create a true US ski cross program. ”

Let’s see if the old sniper can reach his goals of winning another World Cup and pushing the future of the U.S. Ski Cross team forward.

He says "I have joined the World Cup Dreams Foundation platform to help realize the next chapter of my career. I am returning to represent the US after 15 years on the Canadian Ski Cross team. I am a dual US/Canadian citizen that grew up in Avon, CO racing for Ski and Snowboard Club Vail. In 2007 I was recruited by my father’s country, Canada, to join their newly formed ski cross program. There wasn’t a ski cross pathway in the US and I felt this was my opportunity to chase my dream of World Cup and Olympic success.

"It has been an amazing journey and I am grateful for all the experiences and opportunities provided by the Canadian team, but I have always felt that one day I would return home to represent the Stars and Stripes. This road won’t be easy, we still don’t have a program and the few people racing on the World Cup are on their own. My hope is to usher in the next generation of ski cross athletes and put the discipline back on the map in the US. I have the experience, desire, and commitment to make this a reality, but I will need support to compete with bigger teams on the World Cup.
