Change In Management Of Klausberg Seilbahn AG
In the course of 2023, Klausberg Seilbahn AG in the Ahrntal (South Tyrol) joined forces with Speikboden AG and the Ahrntal holiday region (Ahrntal & Sand in Taufers) to form the "Zukunft Ahrntal" consortium. The aim of this consortium is to promote a sustainable future and to play a positive role in shaping the development of the Ahrntal. In the course of this, the so-called "Ahrntal-Knigge" was created. This includes six basic principles:
- Promoting small cycles / local economic structures
- Protection of nature and the environment
- Social integration
- Tourism as a community service
- Tourism mentality
- Preservation of culture and traditions
These values were developed and finalized in various workshops. When making decisions on these guidelines, it was important to those responsible that all people, groups and sections of the population were represented and, most importantly, included. In addition, they are convinced that these six maxims not only include a forward-looking approach to nature, but also take into account the identity of the Ahrntal Valley. Words were/are followed by actions:
- Environmental protection is practiced and expanded in all four partner companies
- A guest survey was initiated to provide the Ahrntal with important feedback on the topic of “how are we perceived?”
- Together with the Terra Institute, a CO2 measurement is carried out every year; on this basis, new ideas for CO2 reduction are developed
- Participation in the so-called “CleanUP Days” has been an integral part of becoming a plastic-free skiing and hiking area for two years
- 90%+ of products and services are purchased locally (i.e. within 0-100km)
- Supporting local clubs, athletes and events is a matter of course for both ski areas (sponsorship, lottery tickets, etc.)
- They try to ensure accessibility – even if it is sometimes challenging for ski resort
- Gender equality is the consortium’s highest priority
- Green events will be organized in the future
- The Ahrntal is well on its way to becoming a climate community – they can be sure of the support of the consortium
- The consortium is driving forward the switch to alternative fuels
The "Future Ahrntal" consortium does not want to appear didactic or revolutionary. They are concerned with taking small and somewhat larger steps for the future that have a positive influence on the Ahrntal. The focus is on acting in an economically sustainable and innovative manner, having a socially integrative effect on the population and an environmentally friendly, authentic approach to nature.
Klausberg Seilbahn AG has been around for over 50 years. Mr. Walter Fischer played a large part in this success story as managing director. Walter will now gradually enter his well-deserved retirement. He will accompany the new managing director, Mr. Michael Ausserhofer, over the coming weeks and months and pass on his knowledge accordingly.
"Dear friends of Klausberg! I would like to thank you for the years of professional cooperation and support. Business partners developed into friendships. I would not want to miss these anymore. I am leaving with a smile, but of course also with a tear in my eye. For me, working on Klausberg was not really work in the true sense of the word, but rather a hobby, passion and enthusiasm at the same time. In the coming months I will continue to support Michael and pass on my knowledge as best I can. During this time I will still be available and will continue to manage the affairs of Klausberg Seilbahn AG in cooperation with Michael. I hope that we will stay in touch even after my active Klausberg career. I wish you all the best and good health!" said Walter Fischer
"Dear partners of Klausberg Seilbahn AG! From September 2nd, 2024, I will be taking on the position of Managing Director of Klausberg Seilbahn AG with great motivation. I am really looking forward to this new challenge! As a passionate skier and father of four young skiers, this is a dream come true, so to speak. Skiing is my passion. It is also very important to me to give something back to my homeland, the Ahrntal: I am keen to support the local economic cycles and local tourism. I look forward to working with you all." added Michael Ausserhofer
